Yeah, the puzzles in 3.0 were really, really egregious. Like they had no idea how to stretch the 3.0 story into a full patch so they felt the need to pad the runtime with ten minutes of puzzle solving for every. single. story. beat. Wanna cross a bridge? Solve a puzzle and talk about it first. Wanna fight a dude? Talk about it, then solve a puzzle, then talk about it again, then fight them, then solve another puzzle. The absolute worst was getting to Castrum Kremnos, the culture that points and laughs at those nerds in Okhema for being a bunch of philosophers, only for the FESTIVAL OF COMBAT to be LITERALLY NOTHING BUT PUZZLES FOR LIKE AN HOUR AND A HALF. I seriously almost dropped the game over that garbage. Fortunately, the majority of players shared my sentiment and made it loudly known to Hoyo, who then proceeded to cut out 99% of the puzzles from the whole rest of 3.X. The rest of Amphoreous is absolute cinema interspersed with still probably a fair bit more talking than was strictly necessary. The payoff is well worth it, though. But man, FUCK 3.0.
