It's definitely tighter in rank if you do, but that just means you're less likely to have massive disparity, it's still garbage due to MM not being able to balance teams/ranks especially when parties are involved.

When I've looked up my matches on statlocker, overwhelmingly I've found that parties are on the enemy team, with the ascendant/eternus carrying, or my teammates have sub 300 games/ still doing holiday challenge etc. I think it's a particularly bad time to try and climb.
