Which then puts her into an advantage situation where she forces you to respect her.That was a problem I noticed that you had in general. You like to push buttons at disadvantage and you get counter hit a lot. In that kind of situation where you see the red CH mist, it's best to guard and try to avoid taking further damage. It's good for avoiding throws, but it's generally safer to just try and break the throw while you guard. There's actually an Option Select for that where you can guard and tech throw at the same time.I've noticed that you have the opposite of the usual beginner problem. You tend not wakeup attack enough. Against really aggressive opponents, it's good for keeping them off of you if you can successfully mix up mid/low kick. You would also probably benefit from using Use 2p a bit more. It's a good "panic" button in many situations.I remember I used to play VF with this Japanese guy and he always told me "You play in a very '2d' way." in reference to me not sidestepping enough. I think you would benefit from trying to sidestep linear moves more. I kept hitting you with aggression from Vanessa punches like OS 6P and you can just sidestep that one.
Speaking of Vanessa, when I land on top of you for with the Takedown stance, it begins a 3 way guess and you have to input a 4, 6, or 5 P+G throw break to get out of it. It's a pure guess, so the easiest way to deal with it is to not get put into those situations by her catch throw. Easier said than done, but it's a thing you have to look out for in her offensive stance.One more general thing I recommend practicing is getting out of staggers. A lot of those combos I was doing on you were kind of fake. You can shake fast enough to avoid wall stagger into DS 3P+K full combo. It's a really important thing you have to learn to avoid fake attacks and fake pressure. People online love to do that, so you have to recognize what moves cause those staggers to occur.You were actually really good at using your crouch to avoid throws. That's the whole reason I started using mids more to catch you crouching.Another thing was, well this comes with experience playing the game, but you let me get away with a lot of unsafe moves. Vanessa OS 9K (HAWK Strike) is a very unsafe launcher. If you ever guard it, you get a full combo on her, no questions asked. That's an important part of getting better at VF in general is getting good punishes when an unsafe situation occurs. That's why I kept getting more damage on you in situations where you used the string into low kick (though I suppose I actually did mess that up a few times).A character like Pai requires aggression. You were good with that, but sometimes a bit too eager. You liked to swing for the fences with big attacks and even managed to land some launchers, but you often didn't follow up with a big combo. You can get a lot of damage in those situations with her and that reward makes the risk worth it.Another thing worth noting is that lows are often minus on hit, but can be enough to kill. As long as you have +6 or more frames, you can begin your deadly Nitaku, which if I recall correctly, is pretty good with Pai. In other words, you can attempt a mid or a throw and the opponent is forced to eat it basically.One last thing before I get to Pai specific stuff. A thing I think that a lot of people, but especially 2d players, struggle with in VF is taking advantage of stages. When you're on a wall stage, be sure to have your wall combos down so you can get as much damage as possible. But when you're on a stage with no wall, don't be afraid to go for a ringout. It's better than getting a KO in many situations and can help you win the match faster.
Anyway, as for Pai specific stuff (take with a grain of salt, as I know way less about Pai than Vanessa):You were good at getting hits, but like I said, you need to work on your combos more. She doesn't really have super high combo damage, but she can get more than that. Check VFDC, as it has a lot of info on her routes. That site has its own limitations, but it at least has a good idea to get you going for her various combo starters https://virtuafighter.com/combos/list?ver=5revo1&chara=paiI think I saw you use the parries a bit, but yeah, it's a really useful skill to have with her, doing parries to avoid crazy pressure from other characters.Remember that time I accidentally threw myself in the river. That was a mistake, but it actually reminds me of something. Be careful what throw you pick because it can kill you. There are situations where the "right" answer is actually wrong because it would lead to a ringout, so you need awareness at all times of things like those when playing VF.But yeah, I can tell you have grown a lot since the last time we've played and learned more about risk/reward and when to attack versus when to defense. Though I think you may have grown a little too aggressive in some ways when it's not a good situation to be, so mostly, just make "calculated risks" as reverse nitaku is a whole different thing that I can discuss at a later date.
Regarding good English resources on vf, vfdc has some articles, though more of them are for the old versions of vfi. Still some good reads on there, however. I used to watch Acebreaker's channel to learn Vanessa stuff, but I don't know about any Japanese pie players that speak English. There were multiple blogs back in the 2010s of people talking about VF stuff in English for some reason. I remember the ones I read before Vanessa, yet again, but I used to read this one guy's blog on Goh since he had a lot of information in general.

Can't remember now. But I played with EU and Oceania pretty often on there and it worked out alright. I'm more surprised that Sega paid for rollback and cross-play at all to begin with.

I felt like I got a random counter hit from full screen with Bravo light punch, that was also kind of strange. Kind of wish there was an easily available hitbox viewer for this game, but there is none to my knowledge. I've only ever seen the Hikaru hitboxes on Mizuumi.
