They're much better going first because the board is backed up by handtraps and followup, and they're much better going second because they can handtrap the opponent to death and still full combo off one card. Mulcharmies are dangerous in that they have the potential to tip too far in the opposite direction, but there needs to be a more concerted effort around designing cards that actually favor the going second player but aren't completely dead turn 1.
