The novelty wouldn't have been there after a dozen or so clones, but if I think back to it, I still think Genshin's opening map had a charm to it that most gacha clones aren't able to replicate. Like I can't see myself ever wanting to explore the Endfield world just for the fun of exploring, but I think I'd still enjoy doing that for Genshin's first two regions + the mountain even if the game came out today. The landscape and scenery are just more diverse and interesting than the competition imho, but that could obviously just be my nostalgia talking. I think version 1.x Genshin was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had playing a live service game.
