Designing the work to be connected to a previous work in this way is a good shortcut that makes the setting and story more interesting.

I'm not sure what to make of them. All of them are Night units, they lose important skills, notably Fana lost Wild Fang, and Ullr has an eye bigger than the other because one of her eye is rotting, but they also gain extremely good skills. Fana seems to be the Altered Celias of this game, insane offense at the cost of everything else to show how important it is. Mad Fana and Flora look very usable.
