Blood Elves (basically High Elves) ended up having to join forces with not one, not two but THREE of their recent enemies that tried to destroy their homeland (and one of them the forsaken/undead actually more or less did). Against their former close allies the humans more or less (Garithos bigotry aside). All of this makes for a huge case of mental gymnastics to justify.
