But conceptually, I'd say the turning point for me is when a character no longer feels congruent within the world. Not the game FFXIV, kind of an important distinction. Obviously they'll stand out if you compare them against less personalized NPCs, but if you imagine Eorzea to be a real place with more varied faces and body types and etc, could you envision them existing? There's no singular metric so much as just like, how mods have pushed the big picture past this line. Attempt at immersion, body proportions, overall construction (materials, art style, how congruent the mods themselves are), etc. A character could be technically 100% modded and still past the smell test, while a vanilla-face-vanilla hair catgirl in a Stellar Blade refit could fail it. Though the latter gets a little complicated with outfits because people swap them around often, if I primarily see people in stuff that passes I won't think much of the occasional indulgence.
