Silver's eyes are meant to be somewhat angular, but on his model they're more round, probably due to the fact that his spines alreadly give him a more aggressive look when facing forward and any more angularity would end up looking unblalanced.

I think two things can be true at once. Silver does have rounder eyes like Sonic, but his front face quills are supposed to obscure his face in a way that makes them look sharp. Hence why he's always drawn with the "sharp eyes" look in all his sonic channel art and official standalone 2D art. IDW still gets it wrong by lifting those front quills up or drawing his eyes in front of those quills.
