Robin in Teen Titans is very Batman-like, and is the coolest iteration of the character ever, but he never overshadows the rest of the team like Batman does, which itself is the core difference between Batman and Robin. But really, when it comes to Sonic, the fact of the matter is that we have a lot of characters beyond Sonic himself who deserve to share the spotlight in their own ways, because at one point they DID. Sonic as a series has the appeal of something like Teen Titans where there are several characters who are all cool, not just Sonic himself.
