Is this a usable general where I can ask about the game? Warcraft 3 was one of my childhood games, but I never got to playing WoW. I'm interested in finally trying it now, the Classic version. Seems like there are eternal Classic servers, but also a new Burning Crusade ones. I want to run around alone, see the zones, check out the quests, the lore stuff etc. Not really interested in playing with anyone or doing some endgame stuff. Admittedly, I don't like tanking because toxic shitters ruined it for me, and I can't deal with the spastic autism wrangling in M+. Time to open up. I've stopped playing WoW because of how bad WoW story and lore have become. Don't get me wrong - I'm not a lorefag. I know basics enough to grasp all the story. This is not what is the most important to me in the game. However, when I play the game I like to feel like I'm in the well plotted world and story that is framing my experience is good enough, epic and interesting. This is just not the case starting with SL.And while SL and DF still were passable, TWW and Midnight are obvious low effort duds made by talentless writers. Story and characters are generic in a bad way. They are not memorable nor interesting nor fun. WoW's big advantage over other MMOs was great world and memorable stories and characters. Now it's no longer here. It's barely different from some Korean or Chinese MMO, with long forgotten skeleton of old characters that devs long time stopped caring about. And in subtle way it impacts gameplay massively.

Goblins? Then to the Ethereal home world. Like, what the actual fuck is this story? Dalaran was floating over Khaz Algar because... it just fucking was, then Xal'atath nukes it so you end up teaming up with the Earthen. Sure. But then the Arathi are there, too? prepatch events are always more fun than the expansion. Get to level and gear up an alt for every class. Even every spec if you want. All pug open world activity. The way an MMO should be.
