Instead of supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T8 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their Heat move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, Heat also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. Previously, her game leaned on df1, which is a higher-IQ option with the choice to go BT or stay standing, and generally lower damage that fit her poke-oriented identity. df2, by contrast, is a big move with extensions and high damage. Shifting her toward that was a bad design decision. On top of that, giving her a +2 FC safe option pushed her even further into braindead gorilla territory. Update:Played Tekken 7, like 5 games.The game is significantly better since you have to think more, but it has a stronger psychological torment aspect in the sense that the unused time pressing due to the less mashy nature of the game and better backdash is commonly used to fuck with the opponents head. For instance I fought a Paul killing me with only deathfists to fuck with me psychologically. Overall a way better game but you need a very strong mind not to go insane playing it. Whereas in Tekken 8 it's a shit game but it's so mashy that the fights are completely impersonal and it's more like going through a pre-written script against every opponent, so the psychological intimidation factor is weaker.
