Like, when I talk about how we have a quest about shutting down the press, I mean it as a shitpost; it's obvious in context that it's about preventing an overzealous person from inadvertently undermining the response to a crisis, it's just that it's entertaining to instead put a sinister spin on it instead. But open up half the sites out there, and people are saying things that delusional dead seriously. And what makes it worse is that half the time they aren't even playing the game - they just saw someone shoot off a hot take based on a game of telephone, severe wishcasting, shitposting, memeing or plain mental illness, assumed it was true, and ran with it. And since more people are saying it, other people assume it must be true, and start meming on it as well. Thus, we end up with a sizable crowd of people who believe that Endfield single-handedly created oripathy to sell chronic treatment for it (despite not actually being in the pharmaceutical business at all, and every area we visited except for the hub being run by the UWST). It's bad enough that it makes it impossible to talk about the game, but does it also have to be painfully stupid and ill-informed on top of it?
