Stalling is just casting an ability outside of your attack range. The game queues the ability to fire when you're in range.
The functional difference between an auto attack and ability is that an auto does not incurring gcd. Notice how with revo on when you click on a target you character fires off an auto+ability. The jank is that you can override the auto attack with a stalled/queued ability.
This update tries to reduce the restrictions of click release and remove spell release completely I suppose. I dont know how they changed spells so spell release does not work, do they cost a gcd now? That sounds crazy for regular smoke cloud use.
Redditors hate it because they refuse to understand it and any small niche mechanic that requires pressing buttons does not deserve to be in the game because if they dont do it you cant either.

For thieving i find it funny how adress crystal mask and light form in an early game adjustment blog and i also feel like they will have made the ramping fail rate ramp up real quick. It will also kinda feel shitty that once you eventually get 120 and all the unlocks you will always be caught at some point.
Removing travelling merchant is definitely a decision, wouldn't be so bad if they addresed the reason why players choose to wait for stock instead of doing the content that rewards the stock.
Removing essence from wicked hood is a big yikes, the teleports as well is kinda shitty but it is a nice way to get some daily nats/astrals as an iron
Daily challenges and flash events removal will be a big W
Sinkholes going is great as well

Look, I just don't care if they did this for legal reasons and not the goodness of their heart.
It remains true that these changes are good for the game (for the most part).
Too much of the game was balanced around the fact that Treasure Hunter existed. TH was a major factor in their game design decisions which is why so much of the game is a mess now.
Some people think this will make the game less afk, more tedious, more difficult, etc.
Maybe there's some truth to that.
But the effort you put in will actually last forever now. There won't be powercreep on top of powercreep.
There won't be unlocks that are superseded by other, slightly better unlocks just a few years later.
Achievements will actually matter. Drops will be meaningful again. GP will have value.

We're all in this together, runesisters. We will get through this turbulent moment in order to reemerge with a game that will last decades, perhaps centuries.

Jagex dont like the xp given out with effort needed yet instead of doing the sensible thing and just nerfing the xp they think changing it from 4 or 12 clicks an hour will somehow magically solve the xp given out by it.
Really nonsensical to me as if they are really against a 15 minute afk, why don't they just i don't know, change the lobby timer back down to 5 or 10 minutes?

I remember saying that increasing the lobby timer would lead to a situation like what is happening with people bitching over the thieving changes.
It was never a good for fit for rs3 or osrs and both should have them hardcoded to 5 minutes so runelite can't get past it and afking combat in osrs will also log you out

hot take they need to go even further with these changes. remove lodestones. it's time. make actual teleports relevant again.

They should remove the ability to run and all shortcuts from the game (just remove agility from the game outright, it's just a crutch). Hell, they should make it so there's only one path to get around the map, and it's as long and circuitous as possible. With one bank in whatever location is the furthest from being able to do stuff as possible. (have the bank be in lumbridge, and all skilling in the deepest part of the wilderness that's also a members only area so you're only able to skill if you pay for membership)
Also limit inventories to six spaces, which also includes any gear you want to equip.
Also get rid of gold, and replace it with a credit system, and whether or not you're allowed to use your credit is based on how long it's been since you last bought runecoins (you don't have to use them on cosmetics, you just have to give jagex money).

It's pretty noticeable playing newer quests and how each series now has the same outcome
