I think the first chapter benefited a lot from the Transmitter-Placebo structure of going through the same mystery twice, since there was so much to parse through there, but it feels completely repetitive here. We haven't learned anything new about the mystery in this entire chapter. It's all just rehashed stuff from Transmitter. The most interesting parts of the chapter (Tokio learning how to whittle, talking with the bartender, and harassing Kusabi) don't even have anything to do with the mystery. I guess you could say the important thing here isn't the recontextualization of the mystery, but Tokio's reactions to it, and that kinda works, but still... I'm sure there's a more interesting way they could have handled all of this.

The only part of WA2 I enjoyed was Chiaki's route. Setsuna's route in Closing Chapter is one of the worst things I've ever read and ultimately made me hate the game. By the time I got to Coda I didn't care anymore and just skimmed to the end.

Well that's the end of Nukitashi 1. I approve of Fumino being the true heroine. Out of the heroine cast in this game (meaning the ones with routes) I thought she was best girl. The game doesn't enforce a route order other than the true route, but it does number the routes, and I followed that order, which ended up working well. Each route was better than the previous one, which is always nice, so my ranking would be Fumino > Misaki > Hinami > Nanase. It's a good VN and I'm glad I decided to give it a chance. I think if I hadn't read Henpri I would not have been open to reading it. It's definitely something that isn't completely to my tastes, and I do think Henpri is a better game. That being said, I still enjoyed it quite a bit.Anyway, I need to start Nukitashi 2 now. I've actually read substantial parts of the main scenario of that, but my memory of it is pretty vague and I skimmed a lot. I feel like I should probably read the After Stories and stuff first (I assume that's immediately available, I don't remember), but I would kind of rather read the main scenario instead. Nukitashi tries to do the same thing but I don't think it works as well, though I'm not sure I could pinpoint why (maybe it's too reliant on the usual character tropes). There are also a few criticisms I have of Nukitashi and how it deals with the themes it has. It feels like it's trying to address certain things as they are in reality, but it's still doing so from within the context of something basically like a moege, and has to rely on creating empathy for the slut characters through giving them a tragic background, etc., so it doesn't quite work, at least for me. I felt like Henpri made me more open to nonvirgin women even though that wasn't the point of the game at all and it never really addresses that subject, simply because of how well the characters were written and I could empathize with them so easily, if that makes any sense.
Qruppo is clearly getting better as they make a new game. 4 years have passed since Henpri and I can't imagine how good their next game will be.
