Real experiment is the entire world, which was always guided and controlled by Enclave. Everything is set up, all factions except for Enclave are just unknowing pawns, who play in the playgrounds, while real overlords ruled in the mountains of Colorado, for 200 years, listening to EVERYTHING that ever happened in every vault and every city. Enclave chads... it's our time.
I feel like there should be a mod that when you take certain drugs it'd negate the effects of being crippled for the duration of the drug. I think the tradeoff of getting addicted while out in the field to negate the penalties would be neat, especially if you're not using fast travel so you can't just teleport to the doctor instantly.

Really the main takeaway is Tactics is semi-canon due the scale of the endings. I can't find it but there's a quote that one of the NV devs said about how a lot of the stuff they had to cut was world building stuff like "where the water comes from and how it gets there" and I think that's the sort of stuff Bethesda games lack. It's not even a NuFallout issue, it goes back to Oblivion and Skyrim too. Part of what makes NV so compelling isn't just the depth of the factions but the human elements of their goals and the centralizing conflict over the dam and the logistics around it.

Maxson doesn't even want to know if he was infiltrated or not and he doesn't take actions that would confirm whether or not danse was an intelligence leak. There's no depth and no consequence. This isn't even a Danse specific issue, the whole game has issues like this.

People now look back and go "wow, wasn't it goofy that 10mm became the standard handgun instead of 9mm lol" but it's perfectly reasonable because, if you were old enough at the time to be aware of it, everyone thought that was going to happen. This all is also, most likely, the real problem with Fallout's aesthetic today: it's attempting to capture a vision of the series that never existed. It's a portrait of a several layers of misrememberances and misunderstandings with each layer warping the descriptor of the image further and further. The people working on these games don't really relate to any of the source material FO1 and 2 were based off of, and they don't relate at all to the life experiences that went into moulding those inspirations into the form Fallout eventually took when Interplay released those games. Basically everything else said is spot on though.

The show should have been an anthology series, just vignettes of wasteland life and death. It would be better suited to the writers obvious indifference to continuity and open up more story possibilities without having to commit to anything. While playing Honest Hearts the Randall Clark story really stuck out as one that would work well in short film form.
