I collect some cards but I don't bother with vintage and most people even among collectors aren't going for yugioh vintage unless it's ultra classic stuff like BEWD or DM originals or promos, the market for stuff like Victory Dragon is too small for them to make much off it. Unlike Pokescalp where modern boosters are seen as moneybags because of collectors, in YGO prices of most modern cards are dictated by how many people want to PLAY that card in a deck, not collectors. When no one wants to play it, or the reprints escalate to the point where everyone who needs it has it, it dies in price. Yes you'll get your $100 staples or ultra meta 3-of but they're getting more affordable after a few months anyway unless you're a top event player and need it now. Yes you'll get your fancy foil print of a popular card in a tin or foil set, but most of the time it halves in price because the market is so slow. Additionally if you know reprints are coming and you aren't urgent on making a deck, you can just buy added support when it comes out and pick up the reprints later. When I made my Labrynth deck, I didn't have to put up with $30 Big Welcomes because I got them for $5 each on release, then shoved them in with my reprinted Lab cards that were literal cents. I'll still splurge on stuff like Lovely Lab's alt art QCR but for the most part this is not a game for investorfags, despite staple scalping and bad rarity distribution. Vintage scalpers will have to sit on those cards for a long time. There just isn't the rabid market that Pokemon has available now and forever.

The only things in modern reprints I dislike is that some sets have chipped edges (got a Metaltronius in horrible condition from an unopened booster) and the fact that they moved the 1st/Limited edition text to the bottom of the card. Otherwise they're fine. My old pringled cards that I've since smoothed out are ever so slightly thicker but overall similar in quality, just not in ink color, especially on the backgrounds.
