Muramasa has a stunning battle scene production and a fantastic soundtrack. I frankly don't know any other VNs that excel Muramasa in this regard after my lifelong (over 20 yrs) VN experience, Nitro+'s best output. And at the same time, Muramasa's worldbuilding is fundamentally regressive, its unorthodox, new-age type twisted morality. Just like any art form, it shows a concurrent narrative of society around the art and the worldview of the artist. If he had made Ichijo win everything would have been fine, but instead, he made the neocon ghoul Kageaki win, and in the very end made him look like a taker of grim-but-necessary measures with deep-rooted Japanese exceptionalism, "There is no good or evil so I will take measures I see fit. We are now free from racist Anglo-Saxons but we will do exactly what they are doing nowadays as world police with higher philosophy and morality, just like the great ol' Japanese Empire did after WW1." Muramasa is like a stunning 1930s German war propaganda film or more likely, the 2000 Gladiator. This is what Isayama had dreamt of but could never have pulled off because of his talent, speaking of which, he just created a crude copy of MLA with less appealing symbolism.
