That's Stingfrond agriculture. It's kind of halfassed since the only use for Stingfronds is to turn 4 Bioflux into Fluroflux which is just 64 MJ Bioflux you can't use for anything but making nutrients. Except that fuel value is a lie and doesn't matter. Because the only thing you can use it for is making nutrients and the recipes are 1 Fluroflux for 40 nutrients and 5 Bioflux for 40 nutrients is basically just a 20% boost to Bioflux nutrients production so long as you can deal with the fact that Stingfronds turn into useless seeds after a single minute and once Bioflux becomes Fluroflux it's only good for Nutrients and literally nothing else

Also making Stingfrond Ammo which lets you get a poisonous red ammo equivalent basically immediately for no resource cost. I just installed all the extra plant mods I could find because I like them.

I'd suggest shit like Slipstacks for stone and maybe Boompuffs to make grenades and explosives because coal synthesis for Military Science is a pain in the ass initially (though you need Military Science to kick down the chance of Boompuffs exploding down 40% or every few harvests your entire farm will explode in a chain reaction)

You can, although rail blueprints were a pain before 1.1 added blueprint auto-connect. I have 28 km of rails and 97% of it are from blueprints. The remaining 3% are station entrances and some places where I built into the environment.

Shipping barrels means shipping barrels to orbit, using up rockets that could be delivering more useful supplies.
Even if you make barrels in orbit, this still sounds silly, since then you'd have to process the barrels and dispose of them.
Ice is already in orbit, only needs to be dropped down, and planetside melting is easier to scale, since platforms are often very optimized and specialized for their size.

I was more talking about shipping barrels as a stop-gap. He has the infrastructure to make water on planet but ran out after miscalculating. Tier 3 efficiency is the one module that has basically zero use, at least until you're making a megabase and pollution is causing you lag

So it's just biolabs but all it does is double your science. The other planets make it easy to honestly pretty much double your science production AND make everything else vastly easier too

Artillery is not that crucial before you're scaling up, same for spidertrons really; the mid-game is clearly about vertical scaling, where a few foundries with common quality prod3s and some speed modules will shit out insane amounts of metal, while big miners literally double all of your ore patches, and even the mining productivity research was made exponentially cheaper so you can easily get 10-20x mining prod with pretty much a starter-ish base (doubling and tripling your ore patches again).
By the time you actually need to expand significantly, you'll have all three planets easily, probably even aquilo too.

But cliff explosives being locked is literally just "noo play it MY way!!" shitty forced-puzzle design. It's the philosophy of adding an obstacle that's purely annoying and then forcing players to wait extra before they can finally bypass it. Artillery is a nice late-game tool to make clearing biters easier but is not essential, spidertrons are a nice late-game tool for mobile roboports and far away biter clearing but again are not essential and in the midgame you can just cover your entire base with roboports. Cliff explosives are absolutely crucial to being able to build without being fucking raped by impassable objects randomly generated everywhere on the map.

The even funnier thing is that atomic bombs still work pre-vulcanus, and so they had to make them cost 10x more uranium to make it a bit harder to spam.

I can kind of get the puzzle aspect of cliffs on vulcanus because all the SA planets are somewhat based on gimmick puzzles. But just fucking make extra hard volcanic cliffs on vulcanus and make a second tier of super duper cliff explosives to research there, then. If it feels hamfisted that's because it is, but it'd still make for better gameplay than locking nauvis cliff destruction way further into the game.

You can download 1.1 on the website and try it out yourself.
Before you had to craft a spidertron remote for each spidertron and they were quite expensive. 1 rocket control unit iirc. You could only link the remote to a single spidertron. You couldn't remote-pilot them so while they had radar, you had to move the camera manually. Their legs moved differently and if you tried to tell them to cross a river and they failed, you would unironically lag your game because they were very poorly optimized. I'm not kidding a single spidertron that tries and fails to cross an obstacle was more UPS intensive than a 2k spm megabase. Also iirc you had to be physically present to link a command to a spidertron so if you forgot, you have to go back manually to link it. The way group handled was simply by telling a spidertron to follow another spidertron. Which means that if something happened to that spidertron the group would be disbanded and leaderless. Logistic groups didn't exist so you had to manually give them requests instead of assigning them to a group.

I think the biggest downside is having to fortify Nauvis before you leave, so the base doesn't get eaten before you're able to come back.

Fulgora piss me off because scrap just disappear too fast if you didn't invest in quality big drills. Gleba is eternal but doing it properly sucks and doing it with bots sucks barely less. Vulcanus requires so much scouting to find resources, it's a pain. And by the time you finish a planet you need to go back to Nauvis and rework everything with the new tools because your patches have dried up and the new buildings are too strong not to use. Which means you need even more rockets which means boosting the production even more on every planet only to get to aquilo and quit the game for 2 weeks because you just played 70 hours and only 15 of those hours were something new and interesting.

I just vaguely read what he said. He's full of shit basically. But not entirely. Spidertrons are far from useless since they have build in radar and are much easier to control than tanks.
Basically before 2.0, you could not remote control anything. Anything at all. You had to be near a train to control them, you had to be in a vehicle to pilot it, except for the spidertron. Tanks had no logistic grid so spidertrons had a massive advantage because you could shove a bunch of construction items in them and load them with personal roboports to remotely build things using blueprints and ghost. It was fairly clunky but that could save you several minutes per outpost. The alternative was to manually go to where you want to build. They were also a lot stronger for combat before 2.0 due to another nerf. Personal lasers used to deal 3 times more damage. So you could shove a bunch in your spidertron and it would take care of most things. Nests health also didn't scale with pollution.

Worse. It's just a dev cheat code to not have to make more content and instead take away existing content to repackage. The fact they felt the need to do it this way shows they couldn't think of a better way to make the other planets more desirable. Which I mean, vulcanus could have just had foundries alone and it would still be top tier. Add cliff explosives is just a kick in the nuts.

I think the reason I burnt myself out in the past without even making it out of early game was because I tried to production max everything.
The game is surprisingly comfy when you just start out with minimum production and go from there if you want to increase it and/or make it more efficient
