I'm lonely I've been back for almost a month and 99% of the human interactions I've had have been people flaming me in PvP

1% has been one off speechless interactions in wvw or someone complimenting my fashion wars

It takes time to do preparation events, so overall 1.5h of your time per run. Wait for the most busy timeslot in your region and monitor LFG well in advance before meta start. You can get stuck in a map queue easily too. Ppl do them, just not 24/7 since time/reward ratio isn't great.
Technically meta can fail it too, if the group is super new/dumb and commander doesn't tard wrangle everyone.

If you're new to the game, avoid Snowtrannies at all cost. Avoid being a glass cannon bitch and READ your fucking skills. Even in Berserkers, you should never be glass. Don't take all damage traits and actually think about balancing shit out. You don't need a guide. You need to think. Don't be afraid to experiment or even all in on Celestial gear because it allows you to do everything.

Instanced content is for trannies and should be left alone until you learn the fundamentals, but you'll quickly realize that it's all gay faggot shit and should die. Open World, PvP and WvW are the only thing that matters in GW2.

ele is a ton of fun, flashy, and self sufficient with a lot of flexibility and room for creativity in builds... but you'll see other classes rock up beside you and smash mobs into the dirt in second(s), and if you ever try most of those classes you'll find out they're doing it with like three buttons. ele elite specs are almost mandatory.
necro is everything an ele is, but better. its simple and forgiving in its base/vanilla and reaper specs, but it has elite specs that are super apm intensive (like ele) and rewarding if you want them
guardian is the premiere support class even in its vanilla no elite spec package. it has solid elite specs that mix things up and give it some variety too

i wouldnt say mesmers are beginner friendly. in fact i'd put mesmers as far from beginner friendly as possible. most weapons/specs they have without xpans are clunky and condi based (a pain to level with), and while clones are almost broken op against elites and legendaries, they vanish when you leave combat against that raptor you're killing, even when you're in combat with the next raptor that just aggro'd on you.
but mesmers are cool, and fun, and if you like the game and remember this when you buy an expan, try the boost on one.

you can buy legendary essence of luck from the wizards vault now so it's a lot easier to get the purple luck you need for those.
also ecto prices are much cheaper so you can burn some ectos to get the exotic luck you need

the power stat affects how much you do when your skill hits a target
the precision stat is your crit
ferocity is crit damage
vitality is how much health you have at a rate of 1:10 (5 vitality = 50 hp)
toughness is a modifier on top of the armor that armor gives which reduces your damage taken at a rate i don't think is listed anywhere.
the condition damage stat affects damage applied by the red icon modifiers

gearwise you want to go for items with power/precision/ferocity/vitality, any combo of those to grug unga smash your enemies
or condition damage + vitality and power if you want it, if you want to be canceraids condi you enemies.
condi takes longer but generally you can kill more kinda like afflock in WoW putting dots on many enemies.
unless you can build a lot of condi stacks fast, then things die fast.
when you get to 80, get marauder gear before berserker gear. guides will say bers but bers is for people who are competent in not dying.

If you are doing world v world gearing is pretty easy with Invader's armor. There is named armor that's considerably cheaper to get off the TP if you are trying to make a build for a game mode, but it only has core prefix attributes.

Just be yourself. Gear is easier to come by now, and if you absolutely need level appropriate gear you can just buy white gear from a vendor. If you have it unlocked, make sure to do your dailies/weeklies from the Wizard Vault so you can rack up the currency to buy a free ascended weapon+3 ascended armor pieces. Ascended gear is your best in slot in terms of stat gear

I managed to just barely miss gold for the first firecracker event, because the node up on the second floor of the building wouldn't trigger for me, so I had to run up three times. It's likely the lamest event I've ever seen in an MMO. WoW and FFXIV and damn near everything else blow it out of the water so far.
