>>556716181If you want to melee and keep them as pure classes Hexblade is better. Swords bard is great but what makes it truly busted is the ranged slashing flourish. Hexblade gets to enjoy shadow blade as early as level 3 and Hunger of Hadar at level 5 while Swords Bard has to wait until level 10 for magical secrets for HoH and never gets shadow blade. Hexblade also gets CHA to attack and damage and doesn't really care much about any other stat, and can still be a great ranged attacker with EB while also getting several of the best spells in the game. The only thing it is really missing is Command but with Hold Person/Monster and an invocation to learn Confusion you've got plenty of good options for the mystic soundrel ring anyway.
