Let’s talk about Kaho.>STEPKaho’s friend Mao is coming over to her house to play, so Kaho returns home early to pack away her hero collection. Her mother wonders why she is doing that, and Kaho explains that Mao does not like hero stuff. Her brother is surprised by Kaho’s consideration, while her mother wishes Kaho wouldn't act quite so cautiously around her friends.Later, while Kaho is playing hide and seek with other, the Producer scouts her and tells her to discuss with her family. Her father believes that as a child, she should be allowed to do the things she likes and avoid the things she hates. Kaho finds out an idol’s job is to put a smile on people's faces. Her brother explains that idols and heroes essentially do the same thing. Kaho is instantly hooked by this idea and decides to become an idol.Eventually, the whole family decides to visit the 283 P office for a final check. The Producer first apologises for originally believing Kaho was older than she actually is. However, as Kaho has such amazing body (HIS WORDS), combined with her innocence, many people will be encouraged by her. He then warns Kaho about the reality of being an idol. She will train a lot, have less time to play with friends, and may even find herself in trouble. Kaho says she is prepared, just like what a hero will say. Her father asks one last question: will Kaho be allowed to quit? The Producer promises he will always respect Kaho’s feelings, which her father is satisfied.Some time passes, and Kaho is reading notes prepared by Mao, as Kaho took a break the other day. The Producer worries that he is asking too much from Kaho, but she happily shares the gifts she has received from the big sis in the office, proving his worries were unfounded. Kaho used to think of just her family and friends as her teammates. But since the day she received that business card, she has gathered more and more teammates. Her hero journey has only just begun!

With everyone's support, Kaho eventually wins WING, but her fight does not end there. Her hero journey continues!

She explains that she always watches her teammates closely, is inspired by their work, and tries to mimic their actions. Kaho is always thankful for and proud of her big sis in HCG. However, she then realises that simply mimicking others is not enough. She wants to do something significant for the unit herself. The Producer assures her that she already has. The HCG girls smile because Kaho is there. He tells her that if she truly treasures them, she should not keep those feelings in her heart but turn them into words. Just like how a hero can power up through unity, Kaho can improve by openly cherishing HCG.In the end, Kaho wins GRAD. She believes all the compliments she received were only possible because of the HCG girls, but the Producer believes Kaho is actually the catalyst who brings out everyone else’s charm. It might be a long journey to become an idol exactly like her teammates, but there are things only she can do right now. For everyone in HCG, her hero journey continues!

This makes the Producer panic again. He worries that because Kaho can't play with her friends as much lately, she is using him as a substitute. Fearing she is accumulating too much stress, he decides to talk to her mum. Her mum isn't overly concerned, but when the Producer mentions how frequently Kaho talks about heroes, she realises something and suggests he check out Kaho’s room. Kaho explains she burnt herself on some hot milk in the morning and apologises for the mistake, but the editor thinks it is actually quite cute and asks her not to peel it off. After the shoot, the editor tells the Producer that Kaho did a great job. He mentions how the bandage reflects Kaho's innocent side and, despite admitting it’s a selfish wish from an adult, he hopes she never changes. The Producer however says the fact Kaho is even trying to drink milk, which she hates, shows she is already trying to change herself. (1/2)

The choice is hers, and any version of Kaho is fine. Kaho is relieved and decides to grab something to eat with the Producer before heading home.One day at school, the girl apologises to Kaho for what she said. She explains that Sato has felt guilty because he loves seeing Kaho smile but ended up making her sad. Kaho is happy they are on good terms again. She returns to the office and shows the Producer a snow globe she made in art class. The glass is scratched because she tripped and fell, but the Producer has an idea and sticks a bandage over the scratch. He notices that everyone is inside the snow globe. Choco, Juri, Rinze, and Natsuha are all there, with Kaho and the Producer in the middle. Of course, Justice Red is there too, with his signature pose. (2/2)

The uncertainty and doubt Kaho feels while trying to grow up, combined with the Producer saying he still has to do homework even without a teacher to give him the answers is insanely relatable. Besides, the writing style is exceptionally well done. I love how the story is starting with Kaho making it in class and ending with her showing it to the Producer.The use of the bandage as a metaphor is also simply lovely. Kaho puts on a bandage because she wants to change, but unfortunately she gets hurt in the process. The editor asks her not to peel it off because he sees the bandage as a symbol of her innocence, while the Producer uses a bandage to protect the snow globe where Kaho has placed everyone she loves. Including both the Producer and Justice Red in the globe is a wonderful touch. It shows that Kaho doesn't necessarily have to choose between heroes and idols. The story only gets better the more you think about it.Ultimately, Kaho will not stay exactly as she is forever. She is going to change, but that doesn’t mean she won't still be Kaho. If she makes the decision to grow, our job is to hold her hand and help her through it. It is very satisfying to self-insert as the Producer, to light a candle for her when she is in the dark. It is the ultimate DadP experience. I love it.

Pen touchers of /@/, how do you find your own style? Every drawing I make looks different. Also this week I tried emulating the marker painting style from the ML release event hand drawings since I like that coloring style, but it's pretty hard to emulate on digital.
