Pisses me off that this guy is getting Valve chocolate this year
Hey guys. New dev to the threads.
>>557051234poast gaem
I dont get why like 25% of the thread is obsessed with ecelebs and their dramaisnt this thread supposed to be about game development??
Working on a service oriented game engine with explicit DI.The idea is that when you rig the engine up, you know exactly which services your game uses, and which components use them.It also allows for contiguous batch processing without going full retard ECS cult.Everything is opt-in. There's not even a global "world" state. There are "actor" structs but hypothetically speaking you could make your own base class, give it a service, and have it interact with all the actors in the game, because none of the other systems (like rendering and collision) assume actors, either. Just handles into their services.(Low FPS is from webbum compression)
>>557051480yeah it be like thatbe the change you wanna see in the world anonpost some progress
>>557051381https://store.steampowered.com/app/2520360/Warm_Monkey/
project zomboid is sunk cost fallacy and it worked out great for them. sunk cost fallacy is a great mental tool to keep working on something until it works.stop being greedy about resources. just waste them until it works out.
>>557051578not sure if you're actually the dev but this looks cool
>>557051578SOVL>42 reviewswhat do you think went wrong with it?
>>557051486Can you show us some examples about how this works? Dont need to be in game.Like can I do shit like>features to use: top-down camera, 2d collisions, sprite stacking, 2d-particlesand so on and it will provide an smaller export size than the full engine?
>>557051480Here's the problem. We have one person who if you squint could be considered a local eceleb. You have a wannabe eceleb that's more focused on trying to be that than his game. You have a third one that doesn't care about any of that and is just a tripfag so he's talked about as an eceleb. This is also 4chan. Everyone pretends to be retarded here. Mix that with the combination of what I posted above and you have the absolute state of things in modern day /agdg/. But none of them will leave because >The "squint and maybe" won't leave because they do stuff that involves the community >The wanna be loves being mentioned >The tripfag likes causing chaosAccept it, filter the buzzwords, and do your best to not involve with at least the second and third. The first one just gets caught up in the shitposting sometimes but is otherwise harmless.

Say that you are making a comedy-oriented game or VN. How do avoid the pitfall of irony poisoning, or at the very least minimize acussations of doing it?It's a two-fold thing, both of the actual quality of the writing itself, and the PR around it.I mean "ideally" you'd get an editor/proofreaders, but writer should attempt to make their jobs easier by avoiding the problem in first place. So far the first and most important rule I have is>the characters never question the absurdity of their situation
>>557051480Sometimes you just want to talk about how much you hate Thomas Brush but he's too niche of a subject for a dedicated eceleb forum like the farms.
>>557051965That about sums it upBased true and accurate
>>557051759price. looks like a <$5 game
i just make game, that you don't is not my problem
>>557052205I wanted him to realize italso nobody wants to be in india
>>557051759Would you buy it?I'm not saying it's devoid of merit but there is nothing about it that really makes me want to play it.
>>557052128Just approach it from a genuine angleDon't try to put any weird 4th wall breaking shit inDon't try to get all meta with itTake the world and the characters within it seriously, even if it is inherently ridiculous. That's normal for them, but hilarious for us.
>>557052291he didn't make that, he just posted it because this was a monkey OP
>>557052013It's time to admit the godot engine failed as a unity alternative and ended up being just a gamemaker alternative, all the new devs are still picking poonity as their first engine.
>>557052463
is it possible to make a roguelike in gamekaer studio?were trying but were sitll at the early stages. im worried about the combat
sometimes it feels like i abuse chatgpt with the amount of work i make it do>>557051236he made thishttps://store.steampowered.com/app/3694480/A_Game_About_Feeding_A_Black_Hole/
>>557052252Oh fuck guys! He's making a game! How the fuck do we stop him? If HE makes a game that means anyone can make a game, and that invalidates all of our excuses! We have to take him down a peg or two! We have to stop him from making a game!
>>557051480it's literally just one guy spamming with VPNs
inner security is the key to consistency. self-doubts and people-pleasing will kill your identity, especially if you are chronically online. social media is in a constant state if criticizing and attacking people. if you absorb that feeling, you try to become perfect to avoid an critique. but if you have strong inner security you just do what you can do, you are who you are. you just do. because you just accept that if someone doesn't like you, it's just not a match. it doesn't say anything about your quality as a human being. it just says "there is no resonance here". and if being yourself is more important to you than resonating with everybody, then you'll be consistent. because you are the same person every day.
>>557052703Risk of Rain 1 was made in Game Maker
>>557052853damn, you'd expect them to advertise with that, i didnt know that
>>557051924Yeah. The engine is layered and nothing really has priority. The engine itself is called Sencha and has 3 layers of strict downward dependency, meaning you could make a game with only the first layer, or the first 2 layers, if you wanted:>Kettle (bootstrap for systems, services, RAII, serialization)>Teapot (abstractions for game services and systems. Base definitions for common structs)>Infuser (implementation layer, "batteries included" stuff like collision, rendering and platform backends, etc.)I should note that services are granular and decoupled from systems. You can have 1 service processed by multiple systems, or 1 system processing multiple services. So, say you had particles.>ParticleService>ParticleUpdateSystemBut you want them to deal damage, too.>ParticleDamageSystemIt's kind of like ECS, except you can opt-in for stateful objects when normal ECS would turn you codebase into a convoluted clusterfuck. One big goal of mine is to get all of the "batteries included" services as decoupled as possible. My "success state" for this looks like a 2D platformer that can transform into a 2.5D Wolf3D clone mid-frame. (Haven't done this yet)
>>557052819Too much work, I would rather waste my energy and precious time on earth spamming e-celebs in the amateur gamedev general.
>>557052838yeah everytime you see the words "cris", "joshua", "zukjeet", "fygoon", "xer", "sisters" or other shit like that, it's always one single person chronically obsessed with this thread. it's actually insane how someone who doesn't make games can be so obsessed with a thread about making games. they could spam in /mu/kpop or /vg/lolg or /vg/minecraft or /g/webdev or whatever. but somehow it's always /agdg/
>>557052879I mean it's a pretty old game at this point.Game Maker in general is a pretty old engine so I dunno if I'd even recommend it over Unity in 2026.
>>557052975he makes games, they just flophe doesn't want to learn marketing, he assumes valve should give your games more exposure
>>557053084>buy my favorite youtuber's coursezukjeet
>>557053074were doing handdrawn animations, using Spine so unity seems like a hassle its more for 3D is what ive come to suspect
>>557052975Don't forget to add "Betz" "/v/3" "fygoon" "Buttz" "bootycheeks" to that list. We honestly need a thread filter in the OP
>>557053348I got no skin in this game but when I see games like Hollow Knight and Cuphead being made in Unity and not Game Maker it makes me think there is a reason for that. It's like everyone saying that Godot is a super capable 3d engine but there isn't much in terms of shipped high fidelity games.
>>557052395I would think about it, but not at that price
>>557052975>>557053417No mention of the pedophilic ritualposts? Curious...
>>557052492GM is the most GMI game engine, so if anything that's a compliment. It literally has 'game' and 'make' in the name.
>>557054213Statistically it probably has the greatest number of successes if you're only including indie games.Gets a bit more fuzzy when you include Unity and the AA mobile market.
>>557053210>>557053271ridiculous
ai might not generate your game, but it can generate impressive small tools for your game
Haven't posted updates for a couple months, but the thing is moving forward. Added real (non mocked) upgrade buttons with real effects, bosses every 100 levels (not pictured in webm), and 15 heroesThe low framerate is due to webm dimension constraints, it actually stays between 40 and 60 fps
Damn I had to delete my post twice due to fuck ups. I need some sleep.>>557051234Good sir may I interest you in /gedg/? It is /agdg/'s sister board but with higher quality discussion. Our schizos are also higher quality, lower quantity. You get an essay of nonsense in 5 posts rather than 100 weird one liners spammed around.>>557055482I briefly thought your thumbnail was a sexual cartoon image. I think I unironically need to touch grass today.
I'm not usually a pixelart autismo but the mixels in this look like shit.
>>557056794pixel art without limitation is just bad artsimple as
>>557055482overall I think it seems cool but anon is right about the mixelsif you keep it consistent it looks more "legit"
>>557055675why is my scrcpy not playing audio
>>557055482Using vector-based non-pixelart fonts in a pixelart game is the gayest faggotry everWhat engine is this? It’s not actually particularly difficult to write your own sprite-based or mesh-based text rendering
>>557057019Isn't that sm**tphone software?
>>557057019nevermindjust fixed
>>557054519Yeah Claude can already nearly one-shot simple, isolated scripts and shaders. Like "I want this boat prop to have faked buoyancy" or "I want this prop to retract up on a cable and swing naturally as a rigidbody" etc. It's fun.
>>557057091It's a pixel art font, but it's vector based.I agree, but: 1) some text is too small to be rendered with pixel accuracy (see the small descriptions below the heroes and 2) i have no idea how to do that lolEngine is libgdx with scene2d
