Working on a service oriented game engine with explicit DI.

The idea is that when you rig the engine up, you know exactly which services your game uses, and which components use them.
It also allows for contiguous batch processing without going full retard ECS cult.
Everything is opt-in. There's not even a global "world" state. There are "actor" structs but hypothetically speaking you could make your own base class, give it a service, and have it interact with all the actors in the game, because none of the other systems (like rendering and collision) assume actors, either. Just handles into their services.

Here's the problem. We have one person who if you squint could be considered a local eceleb. You have a wannabe eceleb that's more focused on trying to be that than his game. You have a third one that doesn't care about any of that and is just a tripfag so he's talked about as an eceleb.

It's a two-fold thing, both of the actual quality of the writing itself, and the PR around it.

Yeah. The engine is layered and nothing really has priority.
The engine itself is called Sencha and has 3 layers of strict downward dependency, meaning you could make a game with only the first layer, or the first 2 layers, if you wanted:
>Kettle (bootstrap for systems, services, RAII, serialization)
>Teapot (abstractions for game services and systems. Base definitions for common structs)
>Infuser (implementation layer, "batteries included" stuff like collision, rendering and platform backends, etc.)

I should note that services are granular and decoupled from systems. You can have 1 service processed by multiple systems, or 1 system processing multiple services.

So, say you had particles.

It's kind of like ECS, except you can opt-in for stateful objects when normal ECS would turn you codebase into a convoluted clusterfuck.

One big goal of mine is to get all of the "batteries included" services as decoupled as possible.
My "success state" for this looks like a 2D platformer that can transform into a 2.5D Wolf3D clone mid-frame. (Haven't done this yet)

I got no skin in this game but when I see games like Hollow Knight and Cuphead being made in Unity and not Game Maker it makes me think there is a reason for that.

Haven't posted updates for a couple months, but the thing is moving forward. Added real (non mocked) upgrade buttons with real effects, bosses every 100 levels (not pictured in webm), and 15 heroes

The low framerate is due to webm dimension constraints, it actually stays between 40 and 60 fps
