My one hope for gw3 is that since they fired the most egregious megafags after EoD and the writing has become way less insufferable, we can actually have war and conflict between the races again, they changed the whole tone of the world from YA/Adult to PG-13 get along gang and it's suffered ever since.Now that the majority of the playerbase are boomers they have this once chance not to fuck it up and make it extremely gay again.World PvP is probably a monkey paw wish but they should integrate wvw into the world in an immersive way, split tyria into two factions, bring back the gods who back the salads and the fhds with their magics to war against the charr and the asura who use their tech (but nerf asura Mary sue shit), the norn can be a neutral faction who can side with either, that gives the charrsura side a pretty character option and the fhd salad bowl side a big beastly option.The war zones are in kryta, divinities reach is the ultimate prize a la SM but bigger and better, the the salads and fhds reclaim deep maguuma and eastern maguuma and that becomes their territory, the chart expands west into the shiverpeaks, the norn go back to being solitary nomads again since the threat of jormag has passed.The main story is about the war, players can join the warzone and PvP enjoyers can be frontline fighters or carebears can do various pve events in the back lines to help the effort. There can be various outside threats and disruptions, residual undead shit/rogue gods etc from orr, most shenanigans etc.

I don't know if they really set up the Pact getting owned as hard as they did at the start of HoT. They did set up the Sylvari getting mind-controlled, but most of the fleet just straight up got shot out of the air by vines flying a mile out of the jungle right into the Silverwastes and taking them out before they even got there.IMO it was more like they set up that Sylvari turning was going to be problem as a fakeout, and then the twist was that it wasn't even necessary because it turns out Zhaitan was a runt and Mordremoth actually was just strong enough to overpower the entire fleet. So you crashland there having nearly lost the war in the first five minutes, and then you STILL have to deal with Sylvari turning on top of being on the backfoot AND the jungle being dangerous even without Mordremoth.It's a little undermined by how fast they blew through the last three dragons, but at one point the game was pretty serious about making sure the dragons seemed like an actual threat even though you'd killed some before. It's one of the few parts of the story that was done pretty well IMO.

A couple years in they got rid of that so it was seamless, so the only effect it had was which team you were on in World vs World. And in the last couple years they even got rid of that to do WvW matchmaking by guild, so server choice now does literally nothing. The only separation now is between EU and NA.

>>557764095The way it works now, if you haven't been in WvW for a few weeks (or ever), you can either choose whichever world you want or you can choose a Guild you want to be matchmade with, and you'll be stuck with that choice until roughly the end of the month ("season"). When the season changes over, you get matchmade automatically, either solo or with the rest of your chosen guild, onto a particular world. If you don't enter WvW for a few weeks, your status gets reset and you can choose again the next time you go in.
