Finally finished Raging Loop. I think everyone like anti-hyped up the bad ending that I thought it was just eh. Reminded me of the last chapter of Higurashi, actually the progression is probably the same as Higurashi too. Great mystery sections, reveals kinda interesting but not as much as mystery, then the ending is kinda eh. I was worried it would have an unhappy ending or that maybe only the protagonist would die, so just like with SF even thought I had gripes with parts of it I was happy everything turned out alright

It's funny. Retsnom clearly wants Nozomi to "forgive" Taki for what he did so that they can have a positive relationship, but at the same time the writer also wants Taki to still keep secrets from Nozomi. Additionally, the writer also doesn't want to focus on the students from the second school who died. Together, this causes a writing problem. The obvious thing for Taki to do to start apologizing is to build a memorial to the second defense academy and show it to Nozomi. He can offer to talk about them and share stories about their lives while offering to explain all his secrets. It's a clear way to apologize and demonstrate Taki has learned that what he did was wrong. However, because of those contradictory axioms, Nozomi has to forgive Taki without Taki actually doing anything or change as a person. Likewise, the writer clearly wants the audience to be on Taki's side that's why people in the lunchroom were complaining about Nozomi rather than Taki. It's also why Takemaru getting stabbed doesn't lead to any consequences because it would validate Nozomi's emotions over Taki's. So, it doesn't feel like Nozomi's anger is treated as just as real and valid as Taki's sadness.
