Perfect sort of gimmicky game you'd expect to see when the quest first launched.The execution is tight with controls feeling comfortable and natural, with tutorials for basic flying and performing tricks (still trying to improve on the later). The visuals are pretty simple "realistic" as you'd expect from other sims though the audio is quite good, you can hear the sound of the wind rushing past and change as you fly near objects and the ground. The feedback in the controllers are subtle (on the quest) to help get a sense of how much wind is catching on each side of your suit. The main appeal of the game is the score attack with optional courses to follow and more structured "missions" such as the tutorial or maintain a flying formation with NPCs. It was fun for a short half hour session and seems to be perfect for short bursts every now and then to change up what you're playing (similar to bashing out a bit of Wii Sports). Just tried the Alliance Tales: Battle for the Frontier Demo.VERY decent space dogfighting game. Similar mechanics as in Star Wars Squadrons, but with some original donut steel glorp characters.It has physical hotas controlls AND very well implemented, almost on VTOL VR level VR controlls.It's got classic throttle and stick movement + right thumbstick is your strafing, got drifting mode, energy management (engine, guns, shields directions) - have knobs you physically need to drag on the cockpit to adjust power.Demo ship has laser/missile and missile countermeasures. Runs great, sounds great, plays quite fun and has some basic "peacekeeping glorps fighting pirates and some cosmic horrors" story. Enjoyable.AAAAND, I just realized it's their second game. There is Alliance Peacefighter released in 2025 which looks very similar. Well, another game for the backlog.
