It feels bad when enemies with an attack bonus of 20 land 3 hits on your 60 ac character and it feels cheap when you win a fight with crits, even if you've taken crit talents

Ha, I just finished a playthrough of rogue trader and they make a trailer for the next playthrough a few days later. Hopefully we have some time, as much as I love the game, I was planning to play some other things for a bit.Speaking of which, I finished the first module of bttlemarked. It's a cute little game and coop worked incredibly smoothly, but it's somewhat basic/shallow if you've played a lot of rpg's already. I'll get around to playing the other modules, or perhaps when they release more characters/cards it'll be better.NextFest is on, played several demos in that. There were some fun xcom clones, some fun diablo clones, some fun darkest dungeon clones, some fun starcraft clones, some fun battlerite clones, and some fun HOMM clones. But therein lies my problem with a lot of games these days: if you're an avid gamer who plays a lot of games, there comes a point where most new games are just iterations of already existing things and there's not much innovation. I browsed almost the entire NextFest event list and found maybe a dozen total games that have actual innovation. This is part of why I like crpgs: the story and characters are some of the most important aspects of this genre, and you can have someone express creativity in the story or characters. But with a lot of these roguelikes or homm or xcom etc etc clones, once you've played one, you've played about 80-90% of all of them. Sure, most crpg do have similar gameplay in various ways, you could argue that once you've played bg3/wotr you've grasped the gameplay of the vast majority of crpg, but crpg don't only rely on gameplay so there is something new every time. There is absolutely not garenteed to be something new when you load into the vast majority of these roguelikes or vampire survivor clones etc. And don't even get me started on how same-y the open world survivalcraft games are too. Once you've played valheim, you've played about 20 other games in near entirety.
