You have two damage values for every weapon and a sliding scale value on all hitboxes that moves the net damage between the two values. On all weapons the durable damage is lower than the regular damage so it ends up being a non-deflecting armoured part of the enemy. That's in addition to different weapons having different damage and penetration values and also in addition to each hitbox having different armour values and HP pools. Some durable parts can also be armoured so you get two different kinds of ways to reduce damage for some weapons but then also having different HP pools for those parts makes it just double up on stats to make the "effective hp" of each part different for each weapon shooting it. It's retarded but the system doesn't need to be scrapped entirely to make use of it. The actual design of the enemies mostly gives those high durability parts low armour values making them SEEM like weak points but actually have fuckhuge effective hp (like the charger butt). It's retarded but the system doesn't need to be completely scrapped and every enemy to be redesigned to fix it.A better way would be to keep enemies the same but change weapon durable damage to be higher than the base damage the lower the weapon's AP. This way heavy/medium pen weapons would still be able to do work punching through parts that are armoured while not being able to exploit those unarmoured parts as effectively as light pen weapons (that can't penetrate armoured parts). I think right now the light pen weapons have huge regular damage but fuck all durable damage but with the enemy designs the only places they can hit are usually 100% durable. Meanwhile medium pen goes through parts that are 0% durable so they end up doing more effective damage and require less selective aiming.
