Sato was her childhood friend. Someone she knew she could lean on. The others were new friends she made in high school while attending an elite boarding school. Natsumi’s bullying could have easily either not been seen as a big deal by them OR even by Mahiru herself. Of course, this is all just speculation, but I believe it is worth considering.
