It's funny that Bibisara basically told Zhansaya to stay in the kitchen and she did just that. She was a gm and a legit woman top player too. Pretty based, I hope she's happy.

The Rubinstein mini saga by Agadmator was pretty good. The games were pure kino. Rubinstein had such a crisp style and the way he was grinding down the romanticucks was a thing of beauty. He was a lot like a Magnus generation type modern player who takes minimal risk but maxes out the small advantages he does get.

I have previously alluded to this forum, it is one that might be interesting, if not tired, to you...

Chess discussion here is bustling. Whereas here you will find posts half-hours if not hours old with no reply or continuance of discussion, here you will find posts 6, 9, 10, 16 minutes ago and more flowing in. Here you can find a reply to any chess inquiry you may have, any game analysis you wish to be done, any showcase you wish to be posted...

Here there is no shortage of jokes, interesting chess links, opening discussion, chess forum games, chess variant discussion...

There is almost anything you might feel is missing from this general. It is wise, it is unwise, it is old and it is young. I will post the link underneath this post.

shogi news:
the final round of the top division of the Meijin challenger league was played. Going in, Takuya Nagase and Tetsuro Itodani were tied at 7-1 (no other player could catch up to them). In a surprising turn of events, both of them lost their games. Because of this, a tiebreaker game will be played between them on 3/2.
The winner will face Sota Fujii in a match for the Meijin title, the first game of which will be played 4/8-9.

Even worse than the male pattern baldness is that he's a fat piece of shit on top of it. Being fit makes up for a lot of other flaws.
He's never going to get invited to chess tournaments looking like that.

That is common, I have it happen all the time too.
My advice: play the opening anyway and if you don't know the move, then look up the move afterwards. Then you are more likely to remember it next time, and then you will remember the first move and not know the 2nd move, so do the same thing with that and keep learning 1 move at a time for each game.

who won?
>>
>>558814051
I do that, I just forget it by the time that position comes back around. I mean there are what, at least 3-5 playable moves for each side at any position? 7 moves into the game you're at tens of thousands of permutations that you have to know. My memory sucks but I still don't see how anyone who isn't a master plays anything that isn't a system babby opening like the London or Hippopotamus.

>>
>>558816170
I am not a master and I have a ton of stuff memorized. You are not memorizing random bits of information; it is a move that has logic to it and is connected with the future gameplan. So if you can remember the gameplans and the goals you are trying to accomplish, then it is easier to remember the moves to get there.

nothing in chess satisfies me quite as much as seeing a position where kingside castles gets melted tactically

Yeah, I could've taken the rook but I wanted checkmate instead. Thanks Alex Banzea.

>>

Can you explain? I'm not seeing the winning moves.
>>
>>558850531
That’s because there’s only one, not moves plural.
>>
>>558852261
I'm hoping you're NTA because that response was useless to whom you replied, obviously he meant moves in succession.
>>
>>558850531
Honestly I can't because I only remember the move but not all the variations. It's very complicated like I said.
Here's the position if you wanna see it yourself: https://lichess.org/analysis/standard/5k2/1b2Npp1/2p4p/1pq5/8/2N3nP/5PP1/Q4BK1_w_-_-_2_32
I wonder what rating this would have as a puzzle. Could easily be 3000+ imo.
>>
>>558852964
Sorry to double post but now that I look at it I realized that I may have oversold it a little because there's only 2 big variations and neither of them is that long but the move itself does come out of left field. It seemed more complicated yesterday. Even the resulting position with the queen/two connected passed pawns/minor piece vs queen/2 minor pieces endgame is not that difficult since black can't really advance the pawn. White has to be patient but eventually those pawns will fall.

Ok, you're using ebonics now so I can tell you're a cool young zoomer, all is forgiven.

the fact that this is the behavior on this website is frankly disgusting and problematic. anyone here who supports this needs to do some self reflection because this is ultimately rooted in fascism and the appropriation of culture.
>>
https://lichess.org/training/3nUjX

how do I solve this one? are there principles or ideas that I'm missing? how do I know that the second move is Kd5 instead of a5? i understand i'm supposed to use the a pawn as a decoy, but when to start pushing it?

Chess masters, is it true that chess improves your IQ?

it doesnt improve your IQ but is more likely to appeal to those of high IQ

Looks like my trip to the Tel Aviv chess club is getting postponed again. Israel and Iran are going at it. All I wanted was to party on the beach with women and play some OTB. What the hell Bibi?

At what point do I stop being considered the weakest world champion? I was at least top 10 in when I got the title, unlike gukesh
>>
>>558869047
gukesh is clearly the weakest wc already
>>
>>558869047
>>558869165
Ding didn't even play after he barely won against Fat Tardpomniachtchi. Or when he did, he was playing like an average GM at best.
Was just thinking about it that anons here used to celebrate when Gukesh lost and then he lost again yesterday but by this point no one cares since it happened so many times. Magnus really set the bar high.
>>
>>558870763
i judge ding on his strength before becoming WC, as he did earn the spot beforehand unlike pookesh who got a free ride
>>
>>558871762
What? Ding got into the Candidates purely by chance and because Magnus was being vague and Fabi didn't believe him about the abdication. Gukesh qualified legitemately and also won legitimately with a stellar performance. In the last round he was the only contender who managed to keep his nerves.
>>
>>558864197
it does not. What it selects for (and reinforces) is autism. High functioning autists look smart to normies, therefore the confusion.
Many chess masters do not even possess the social skills to take a random kramnik rambling, without overdosing on meth for it
>>
>>558872019
ding got 2nd place in candidates and then won the WC match against equal opposition
the candidates pookesh "won" were a complete joke with abasov and alireza feeding left and right, alireza didnt even try for half the games, along with beating his jeet countrymen. then to top it off ding can barely make a move without blundering in the WC match so he gets a free win there
hes not a legitimate WC

Ding also got the title without facing Magnus, you can't argue he's any more legitimate than Gukesh. You lose all objectivity because the current weak WC happens to be an unmemorable jeet so there's no point to continue this.
Though it is an interesting question for top players if they could pick their opponent for the match, would they choose Nepo, '22 Ding, '24 Ding or Gukesh.
>>
>>558873119
i never said anything about magnus you moronic shitskin
if ding had abdictated seeing as he was unable to play and pookesh had instead played the WC match against fabi or hikaru and won, then i'd say he earned it
the fact of the matter is that the only people he beat to get WC were pragg, vidit, alireza, abasov, and a completely washed ding, thats absolutely meaningless
>>
>>558873119
Ding was at least strong before the rona. Gukesh has never been strong.
>>
>>558873764
That's true but while Ding was actually the WC I'd say he was weaker. Tough call between the guy who blundered #2 vs the guy who blundered a full rook.

Tbqh the WC title feels meaningless after Carlsen abandoned it as he's clearly the best player and would have retained it to this day if he cared.

Guys, it looks like Israel is going through a pretty rough time right now. We should all switch our CC flags to the Israeli flag to show some support.
>>
>>558885146
I didn't want this to be true after Carlsen abdicated, but it's undeniably true. We've had the two weakest world champs in history immediately after Magnus left. There's not even room to cope like there would have been with Fabi or Hikaru.

I'm going to have to study defending against kingside attacks especially f-pawn pushes, also going to have to fix the 1-move or couple-move blunders I keep making by improving my dilligence before I make a move

>>558852964
I didn't get it but it doesn't seem that out of nowhere. White is up a piece for two pawns but that piece is going to fall. The question is how to make one of black's pieces fall with it. Clever solution.
>>
>>558899939
you have me confused with someone else, this is Punxsutawney Phil from the weather station.
>>
>>558869047
Ding is the only "world champion" who didn't win a candidates or defeat the previous world champion. Calling him the weakest world champion would be giving him too much credit because he's not a valid world champion period.
>>
>>558901707
he didnt win a candidates? you mean he didnt fairly win a spot in that tournament? maybe im misremembering
>>
>>558872083
Looking back someone should have noticed I had autism when I read Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess seven times in one summer. Instead I didn't catch it until I was 30 and was speedrunning solitaire and it hit me that normalfags generally don't do that.
>>
>>558901707
and what about karpov in reference to didnt defeat previous wc
>>
>>558885146
This is why Magnus is a fag. At least Fischer and Morphy actually abandoned the game when they abdicated.
>>

>did your life drastically improve once you made the realization?
No, not really. It extinguished the hope I always had to have a normal life, with having a wife and kids seeming like bad ideas. So what's left for me, I just try to entertain myself until I die?
