The entire Core 4 have a serious problem between the intended concepts behind how they are meant to be, and what actually gets displayed on-screen most of the time. The problem is the notes are bare minimum and leave massive gaps that the Archie writers are relatively free to fill with their old fanfiction and dubisms. I've been reading through these threads, and something's been bothering me. You see, my wife, she loves that Sonic Prime show on Netflix. Watches it with the grandkids. But here's what I don't understand...IDW barely moves units. The schedule's all over the place, comics aren't exactly a gold mine these days, and half the "fanbase" is just people on twitter being defensive about it rather than actually buying the damn things. 50k followers on a news account but maybe a fifth actually support it beyond arguing online? That's not a fanbase, that's a defense squad.Meanwhile Prime had Netflix money, actual viewership, merchandise deals... but SEGA treats IDW like it's the sacred cow of the franchise. They'll call it "canon" for marketing reasons so people think it matters, but we all know that when the licensing money dries up it gets memory-holed like everything else.So what gives?
