I've been playing this a bunch today, and while I like the IDEA of Marathon the game is fucking bizarre currently, total clusterfuck.>movement in bursts is incredibly quick, but you overheat constantly trying to move around the map>TTK is absurdly low, gear may fix that but then you get a situation where streamer premades with top gear endlessly farm people or solos>actually schizophrenic design with free kits and then Rook, literally what is the point of Rook existing? a noob trap to funnel kills to premade streamer teams?>impossible to tell what you're looting due to bad inventory design, quick management is impossible, can't even tell what collectibles are, forced to just blindly grab and go>doing any map events solo is a death sentence>later mission objective's are blatantly not designed for solos>weird lack of world interactivity and details>virtually no lore or worldbuilding??? how the fuck did they miss this, looking through the codex there's barely fucking anything here, I thought we would get fully interactive terminals at least but no>no hub area, no empty map playthroughs for familiarization, no range to try out mods and guns>extreme stash limit, forced to start selling shit after 2-3 runsAll in all, very strange! Not sure what Bungie was thinking, currently as it is player retention is going to by abysmal, and I'm basically the perfect demographic for this game saying that. What gets me is the PVE here is actually really good, the UESC bots are actually terrifying, especially the cloaking ones. They could have made an extended extraction shooter with this and it would have sold.

Why should I not kit out with lmgs every single time
It really feels like some of the shells should not have access to certain weapon classes. Yes let the stealth assassin with a hit and run flanking toolkit use the LMG from stealth.
I genuinely have no idea what the fuck they were going for with Marathon. It's such a weird, sterile, identity-less game. I think the real shame is that I really like the bungie aesthetic and think some of the visual design and world building are pretty cool. Especially the guns, they managed to make blocky plastic futuristic guns cool. Idk maybe they'll fix it over the next few years but I highly doubt it. What a massive fucking L for Sony.
What is even the point of ever entering a map with gear?>go into map with free daily kit, no worries about losses, can find enough stuff in the world or kill other people to take their shit>go into any map with gear, get instakilled by 500 bots spawning on top of you when the map starts (real thing that can happen in Dire Marsh if you spawn in the center) or some stealthed corner camper who gets the drop on you, lose everythingdoubly so when trying to complete some of the insane crossmap missions

Can Bungie actually hold on long enough to get there? To be determined. I don't know enough about what funding they have to stay afloat, even after all the lay-offs.
