You don't actually use the active unless you're already 100% sure you're about to die. Too many people get it and decide to suicide bomb but it just doesn't deal enough damage to be worth it, with the sole exception that it actually deals a lot of damage to the walker, so you can use it to secure a victory in a pinch.
