If they were able to be made at night, then they'd still just die by morning, making the Roaring useless. The only way to start the Roaring properly is by letting them fester and grow, and pouring out darkness from inside the Earth at every point globally. That's how you can manage to still cause enough damage to let darkness fight back against the power of the sun. That, and being aided by whatever the Angel's Heaven is, which I assume is what's used to force the sky to "run black with terror."

A Stance defined by the sun rather than the stars would be the manifestation of the worst qualities of all those that raised him; paternal resentment and cowardice, maternal obsession and detachment, taken to a truly sociopathic degree, and of course a deep jealousy to undercut it all; even as a departed failure, this Stance(known to the public as Solarflare) knows that his grandmother sees more of herself in Kris than him. Even as powerful as he is now, he remembers the glee that his father had taking his fear out on Stance before his powers developed, making Asriel terrified to even be in the same room as him; he could torment him, kill him even, no one could punish him for it save for his mother, but what would be the point? It wouldn't teach anyone anything. Even as he gathers more fear from the beings of earth for the final fight with Titankind, he can detect the hesitation in his mother's every move; it sickens him. Part of him wants to take the scrawled letters grandma Toriel sends him every weekend(she can't bear to use the phone) and paper her house with them before burning it down with her inside. But he doesn't.
