You get satisfaction from being the better player and winning the competitive match. In a battle royale, you get satisfaction from being the last man standing. But what’s the goal of this game? Because I see no end goal. Most guides advise you to try to avoid combat so you can grab loot and exfil ASAP without losing anything.

I spent like 3 hours in the slam specifically hanging around the tick building in perimeter for the first nucaloric contract, once I realized it was a guarantee I would see at least two other players. I’d kill them while they clear the ticks/turrets or just while they’re character is locked into a retarded 10 second animation of clicking a keyboard. Otherwise it’s just running from poi to poi listening for gunshots and risking never finding anyone and having 0 fun because shooting other players is the only entertaining part of the game. It wasn’t long at the nucaloric building before I was thinking to myself “haha wow I’m being a massive faggot, why is the game allowing me to be such a massive faggot” I hope I did at least a little to sour peoples experience with the game.The only time I heard a single other player on prox chat over my 20ish hours was when I killed someone near extract on dire marsh and they screamed “COME ON MAN” in a highly distraught manner. No I’m not anticipating Marathon needs to be hardcore but people using a more hardcore example for a game that is giving free as shit kills is a bit goofy. Cardio Kicks are consumables that increase your heat efficiency, and I think also lower your heat, but I don't know if they remove the overheat state. Then there's the status effect that Recon's drone gives, which is like burning - a DOT followed by a debuff to the speed at which healing items work on you. That one can be cleared by Mechanic's Kits.
