The Wheel has turned once again

Elfed Edition

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.
The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 3400 units, 1100 spells and 400 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them. It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.
Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game.

Dracolich with reforming flesh is a top tier expander and MA Ulm can easily afford it with the scales it needs. It doesn't need extra paths, though you could take A for trapezing + wind of death later.
The only downside is no N, and N is a bad thugging path to take on the Dracolich. Ulm likes N for various important items (like endless wine bags) and to forge thistle mages for N1 indies or summon ivy lords to cast poison res against foul vapors. For that you would want the big pig with hard skin.

>>
>>559330551
Does MA Ulm even need help with expansion?
Thugging might alleviate any special holes in the defenses that guardians can't deal with, but otherwise, lack of magic paths, in particular nature as you point out, is arguably the biggest weakness. That nature probably doesn't help the dracolich with thugging is completely irrelevant. As you mention, nature magic would be primarily just for rituals and forging. And that is a cost of 80 points on the dracolich.
Ulm's troops have significant weaknesses later, but their forging is great, so getting geared thugs up and running, as well as recruiting or summoning spellcasters that can mitigate those troops' weaknesses, is really helpful. Guardians are not impressive if they die to foul vapors, wind of death, wrathful skies, etc., but magic can make them a bit more durable and useful. And thugs are generally more resilient either way.
>>
>>559332442
Jump-starting expansion is always valuable, and winning harder (more provs faster with less attrition) is too. Besides gold it also lets you beeline to nearby thrones faster, and a good awake can often solo thrones early, which can get you valuable mages.
I agree N access and N2+ forging is important, that's why I love the hard skin pig. 29 prot expands into anything, 34 after ironskin, and takes any throne without elemental effects. And he's pretty cheap, you can get almost full scales without even taking misf 1 (misf 1 unlocks the only common gemloss event from drain, and you lose 3d6 of all gems)
>>
>>559333706
Does hard skin stack with other skins like iron skin?

Unless you get independent mages with astral, or you get a master smith with random astral, you probably won't get into astral. That excludes golems and a bunch of helpful items, rituals and combat spells, like antimagic and amulet of antimagic.

I think MA Ulm is not in a terrible spot to take on a lot of thrones without pretender help. Guardians have magic weapons and hit hard. And I'm not sure the boar is all that strong against thrones, though I haven't tested it myself.

It's true that improved expansion can be great (through FFA and diplomacy also plays into matters), but it has to be weighed against costs, including opportunity costs. The boar only brings one new path to the table, although a very helpful path. And while thrones sometimes give access to mages, they don't always do that.
>>
MAke_it_happen admin, could I get a 4hr extension? Still got a few things to setup, and I'd like to do them correctly, or at least less ass-like; but I do have the concepts of a turn in. Fuck do I have a ton of shit to manage. Plus Ermor hasn't gotten theirs in yet. Thanks!
>>
Dominions 1 Y/N? or does it not run well at all in modern systems?
>>
>>559336392
yes
>>559337547
S isn't a bad path to gun for with Ulm, but it's not hard to get into. You spam Master Smiths for their randoms, especially S and A, and you can arcane probe with S1. One empowerment costs 30 pearls and gets you access to both boosters (up to S4), so all a pretender does is save you 30 pearls and get things started a little faster if you site search.

>get home, turn rolled, begrudgingly open it

>>
>>559342689
But if you're unlucky, even if spamming smiths as much as possible, you only get your first one by turn 30 or later or something. If recruiting 50 smiths, the probability of getting no astral-random smiths is 7.7%. And you might not have gotten much if any astral pearl income, without any astral access, by that point. And 3 paths worth of income, from earth, fire and nature using the boar pretender, doesn't amount to a lot of income to alchemize to empower with. If you site search with more paths early, however, you should get access to more independent mages and more gem income earlier, meaning more pearls to alchemize with and use, or doing remote site searching with.
Of course, that should be weighed against winning early wars and potentially capturing sites that yield pearl income or other gem income that can be used to alchemize with.

Poor magic gem income is something of a theme with MA Ulm, it is even part of their lore.

Add to that having few paths to work with in general, especially for combat.

Does 'Attack Rearmost' also include commanders?
ie; if I slap my pretender as the rearmost thing in the battle, will enemy fliers set to (Hold and attack rear) fall on him?
>>
>>559363559
Yes
>>
>>559363559
I believe your units on attack rear will take morale checks as they pass by some of the units, if they fail then they will engage. Higher morale units are more likely to hit the actual rear units, at least as I understand it. This is why it doesn't always work, and its often best to split a large stack of birds into 2-3 smaller stacks when doing commander sniping.

Ignoring the theme stuff, any nation can summon tartarians.
They can also cast arcane nexus.
Dreams of the awakening god.
Wish.

Specifically for nations, some can do phoenix pyre thugs, potentially killing whole enemy armies including unprepared mages.
Caelum tend to be able to end a fight with thunderstrikes before it even begins.
Some nations can wipe armies with hordes of earthquake casts.
Wind of death is popular.
Master enslave is almost never seen, but can not only win against armies, but sometimes cause an increase in troop count even against huge enemy armies.
Glamour nations like vanir nations can sometimes conquer a nation in just about a single turn.
Some nations can wipe an army with gifts of heaven spam.
There are always hellblesses on some nations.
Olms paralyzing and mindblasting small armies.
Soul slay communions.

in dominions dragons can't turn their heads while using their deadly breath, so with enough retards only the ones in front of it will die while the rest surround it and beat it to death

That sounds more or less like a best case scenario for Pyrene and very unlucky scenario for Zemaitia. While it isn't N2, LA Pyrene has poor national access to N, and the NG crosspath is great for rituals, and Pyrene might be in a good spot regarding forging G boosters. And the antlered hochmeisters aren't bad at all, especially with a heroic ability.
I'd be wary of succubi and incubi attacks. Dream seduction involves both a morale roll and an MR roll. Earth items for MR, fire items for morale, maybe, since Zemaitia might not have easy access to astral for MR items and spells. Might be one way to go about it. Not sure.
>>
>>559492969
Golem summoning for casting antimagic might be cool.
I don't know if golems soak up dream seduction attempts, but they should be viable for being geared to kill geared seduction demons.

Gave most skaven units a bit of poison res
Poison wind globes and mortars now have magic projectiles
Bringers of Truth now have magic daggers
Death frenzy is now research level 3 and largenegates
Skaven labs are much cheaper in caves, but a bit more expensive everywhere else. Also labs provide significant immunity to Gnawing rats and help to remove it if it exists in a skaven province

Increased Range on fire wagons to 65
Gave bastions a bit more resources and increased their population boost
However, the complaint about forts being too expensive doesn't hold merit in my eyes. Their labs and temples are cheaper. They get the harmony mechanic. Not to mention bastions are basically instant pseudo-forts (PD trap heaven) and provide freespawn. I feel expensive forts are a commensurate penalty to all of these things. At best I would reduce the cost 5% or so. I might consider reducing the requisite PD to spawn a bastion as well, but these require further testing before I make a change.

I gave all war wagons pierce and blunt resistance. May make further changes, but that seems reasonable for now
Moved Ice Maiden's Kiss to alteration, nerfed its AOE and damage, and increased its fatigue
Increased recpoint costs on kislev medium cav slightly

i think rebalancing the cost or research level for some of the dwarfs evocation runes is needed. like i could be spending 15 fire gems on a wand of wild fire, which even with forge of the ancients, rune of crafting, and a hammer costs more than a rune of fire at 4 gems for a worse spell at the same research level. in general i think giving dwarfs a national discount on items with bound spells would be pretty fun and give you an actual reason to make them. the only pain point i see with dwarfs ATM is it is incredibly hard to give your army poison resist. rune of valaya costs nature so i had to spend 50 nature gems empowering a runelord and it only does an aoe8 pr spell at the start of battle

Welcome back.
The good news is that barely anything has changed so just do whatever you did back then.
Basically:
>you no longer decide tax policy, it's all automated. Also no roads, etc. Just forts, labs, temples and PD
>new Glamour magic path. Stole a bunch of spells from air and added some more of its own. Generally lackluster because most of the stuff it has is rather situational, but there's some fun stuff in there. This has been a major nerf to air focused nations
>cavalry are now two separate units: horse and rider. Pro: more HP per unit, the horse and rider can go on after the other one dies, and if one makes it back home (which horses do automatically sometimes) you can get a new unit at half price. Con: the horse is pretty much always a weak point and many mounted units are now significantly worse
>turns are now "in real time" instead of strictly phase based, but the AI doesn't account for this when aiming, so now your ranged units will constantly shoot behind charging enemies, or at your own advancing frontline if the enemy is retreating
>there's been some adjustments here and there to move away from the SC focused meta. Armies are now more relevant, and it's rare to see SCs like the days of old. In-army SCs or heavy thugs are much more common, and armies don't really stop being relevant late into the game. Buffing magic is more important
>major bless revamp. Good old Mictlan with a quad major bless is now thing of the past. In fact, there aren't major and minor blesses anymore. Customization is higher, but power is lower
>to compensate, we have a few new front loaded nations that will wreck everyone in their first war

Are you sure you got that right? The way I understand it, a legion always gives support to battles in all surrounding hexes. Movement is irrelevant: it only matters where everyone is at the moment the battle takes place.
The important detail is that battles are always considered to happen in the defender's hex

>>559621128
Yes.
Also something I found out short ago: they have melee first... If you've got a conflicting trait like ranged first, only the higher level combatant applies the trait. In a tie, the defender does.
>>

sure but, you have to compare it to the ability to just cast fireball normally that most nations have

spending 4 fire gems so that one guy can spam an evocation seems a bit steep. However, this is a novel idea in dominions. There are no other mods like this so far as i can tell. So the costing is definitely uncharted territory.

Open to input. But come to it with the right frame. Don't compare vanilla items to runes. Compare runes to the vanilla combat spells they are supposed to compensate for losing

Oh.
Ok, now I actually properly understand support after weeks of these lobbies. I thought, legions always support all legions and PoPs in surrounding hexes regardless of the battle's canton.

Do item spells cost spell fatigue? What about armor encumbrance?
>>
>>559621760
Another possible advantage is reliability. With an item spell on a non-mage commander, it is reliable and predictable what spell the commander will cast all battle. Less flexible, yes, but also very reliable.
>>
>>559623731
>Another possible advantage is reliability. With an item spell on a non-mage commander, it is reliable and predictable what spell the commander will cast all battle. Less flexible, yes, but also very reliable.
I have considered this
And it certainly puts an upper limit on how powerful the runes can be

But bear in mind that 4 gems with no possibility of a forge bonus also puts an upper limit on the number of them that you can have. You only get so many gems per game. Whereas gold is much less limited. You will always have more commanders than gems to equip them with.

So it aids the dwarves a lot more in the early game than the late. But yes, a very good point to consider

>>559623256
I believe so, however the 4 elemental runes (not counting the rune of thunder) have attached ranged weapons and those weapons have flat fatigue costs

Good point, >>559129693 is arguably significantly worse than falling fires in a single cast, due to the large difference in AOE, AOE1 versus AOE6+.

The range and precision is rather significant, though, and is more reminiscent of Evo8 pillar of fire, less range, but more precision.

I don't know if dwarves can get farflight buffs going, but if they can, maybe from a bless or from an independent air mage, I wonder if the rune weapon would benefit from it, making the range even longer. Far shot bless is cheaper than far caster, A2 for 30% versus S4 for 50%.

And missile commanders can be scripted to fire rear, right? Unlike spells.

Modeling it as a weapon instead of as a spell imposes some challenges. Fitting it into Dominions might be difficult from the perspective of a mod maker.
>>

Does Dominions modding enable disabling a weapon benefitting from farflight?

Those are very good considerations
Maybe I will reduce the precision
And maybe I will reduce the range a bit

What do you think about the amount of fatigue?
I could also just give them ammo instead. And that would prevent relief/renivig shenanigans

>>
>>559626447
I am not sure, it seems difficult to figure out.

The aspect that bothers me the most is the potential exploitation of "fire rear". All the vanilla ranged items tend to have either very weak AOE (thunder bow has 1 capped damage AOE, as an example), or have lots of weak missiles, or be gated at Const7 like bow of war, and the ones without AOE can be defended from with air shield and some of them with regular shields as well.

Even if giving them short range, far shot bless could be stacked to +150%, maybe also farflight spell buff, and if nerfing their precision, multiple dwarf artillery batteries would still be able to focus the backline in larger battles with more targets to hit.

I don't know if this is a case of something that is impossible to balance. Though it would probably require testing in practice, maybe it is not as much of an issue, or it can be balanced.

I would be tempted to propose turning it into a regular item spell, but you must have considered that already.

Not exactly, but there is a huge bias towards elves and giants in EA; both have significant statline benefits that work well against LA units, and while its harder to elf thug into crossbow the indies in oneage are all MA variants which limits that problem slightly. There are still issues with those two, but going into a oneage game as an EA hellbless nation or Mekone can do alright.

The above is ignoring that LA nations (and MA Caelum) start with citadels in oneage games, which is pretty broken. Also the ability to build citadels is powerful, but of lesser importance. The general increased reliance of EA nations for gems also works against them slightly, doubly so if the oneage game is running LA's site search frequency.

If your Opponent is doing this, it should be pretty obvious. You can change up your formation, cast some fire resistance spells, put some bait units in the back. Early game the precision is going to be a major issue when firing rear. And then late game you have tons of counters.

Unlike a normal script, you can't rugpull your opponent with a big sneaky change in it. With runes you are pretty much stuck with the ones you have. So your opponent knows what exactly what they are up against (if their scouting is any good lol)

>>559630139
>I would be tempted to propose turning it into a regular item spell, but you must have considered that already.
I could do that if this just turns out to be impossible to make work. my concern was that fire mages (or mages with matching paths for the other runes) could reduce the fatigue of a bound spell too much. It would also create a sub game where you only equip runes to certain mages in order to min-max

I try to reduce lategame tedium where I can

So let me share what I did to Ubar. First, I have 2 cave exits, one is 2 moves from ubar, the other 4. As I popped out of the further away cave, I get a message from Ubar asking me if I was going to be rushing his bumhole, that he needed 3 provinces, and that I should take mercy on him.

I had already decided to rush him, but wanted to hide it if possible, so I offered to sell him one of those 3 provinces he wanted at 4x cost. The fucker actually pays up. I let him take the province without issue, and then try to pincer him with a large force coming out of the other cave.

Ubar wasn't completely stupid because they PD dumped that cave exit, but still I think its fucking hilarious.

I really didn't have much of a choice, considering I spawned with two thrones in my cap circle and one of them is the Throne of Winter. War with you this early, under these circumstances, more or less precludes me from actually winning the game, so I pretty desperately wanted to avoid it - but I also needed that province no matter what. I would've attacked you over it if you hadn't offered to sell. In all honesty, you're not some sort of galaxy brained tactician for rugpulling me on an implied truce for 5 turns, and your smug "teehee we're not playing on Discord so it's okay to fuck you over lolol" message was extremely gay. Nah, I'm a bitch there too. Backstabbing people and getting knifed yourself is half the fun of this game. Personally I'd prefer the suggestion of some reputation or similar carried by hinaserver tied to steam id, but that has significant issues of its own.

Lets be real, this map + lobby was a clusterfuck to begin with, hence why I went Agartha. I don't have sight on your SW quadrant, but I assume that you are wedged between oceania and myself, leaving us in clear early conflict.

> I may not be able to win now, but you sure as shit won't, either.
Works for me, that's really all I wanted. I see an Ubar in a lobby, and I want to sink them, joining just for that purpose. The nation's fucking broken and I prefer to run over them than let them do their bullshit. And if the cost of that is my own game, then so be it.
>>
>>559703716
You're right about the map. It feels like we're doing a blitz.
You have no way of knowing this, so I can't really blame you for it, but I didn't pick Ubar in hopes of a roflstomp; I haven't touched the game in about a year so I just picked something I hadn't tried before to get back into it. I didn't even really realize that it was a S tier naction because I haven't played much EA anything. More bad luck, I suppose.
Anyway. I don't want to fill the thread with bickering, so I'm willing to agree that you're a bitch and leave it at that.
>>
>>559704890
Perfectly fair and reasonable. I wouldn't say that Ubar is an S tier nation per say, but its presence is quite warping to the lobby by practically requiring some type of spirit sight. Lategame Shaytan spam is a cancer that must be seen to be believed, nevermind trying to siege out Ubar once Iron Walls is online. Its also possibly the single most rush prone nation in the game due to its citadel mechanics, and often generates a response similar to MA Ermor. It has a significant enough diplo malus that I wagered I could get away with publicly airing my backstabbing without extreme consequence.

You're shit outta luck. There's an improved AI mod out there that helps a little, but the AI simply doesn't know how to play.
Another important thing is that the AI doesn't play the same way a player does, so anything you learn about beating the AI is not going to translate well against players.
The AI is a good opponent until you get good enough to beat it as is. Once you can do that, you're ready to move on to multiplayer. Consider it a backdrop, rather than the main learning element.
That aside, EA Ulm, Ermor, C'tis and Sauromatia are rather approachable and straightforward, and also reasonably transparent and intuitive. They're a good start, with simple armies that make sense and straightforward starting magic. They'll give you a decent early/midgame

AI can also be used to examine and practice force composition timings. Good examples are seeing what's the strongest army you can create by turn 25, what's the fastest you can get a wrathful skies army setup, how fast for X to deployed in the field, etc. For more serious games I like to play out a full game against 8x mighty ai, with the goal of deploying one particular tool against an opponent then attempting to develop into something new for the next. This way I can examine whats in the toolkit, and potentially see if there are any gaps that can be easily filled by the pretender or focused early play. I do utilize in-game diplo against the ai to have a bit of control over who I am fighting, but getting attacked out of no where is also useful experience.

I think they might have had some hard-coded templates added to them. And people can also set a pretender and build manually for an AI when starting a game, I think.

Had a dream Bogarus was changed so you always started with the Patriarch, who was also changed. He now gave the entire army +3 defense using a new buff like a pseudobless and had something called Divine Thoughts 5. In a 5 Area range, at battle start, all allies are enchanted with an on death effect that triggers a spell. Each Patriarch was unique and had said spell determined at the start of the game, from Farstrike, to Slow, to Quagmire.

The game is intentionally obtuse about its details... It's not even clear how ritual dice rolls work, or even what dice exactly are being rolled.
I'd assume that in that kind of scenario there'll be some tie breakers. Probably the higher infernal rank wins, since it's often used as tie breaker.
There's probably a bunch more tie breakers, though. Maybe the usurper with the highest prestige, or the one that choose the puppet earlier, or whichever has higher powers. Fuck knows

their units are a bit on the expensive side, and they also don't have as much protection as some of the other ea nations, like muspelheim and mekone
their archers are probably difficult to mass
maybe awake expander or do trample tricks, and research, and then rely on buffs, evos and items to handle wars, never getting sacreds

Hotkeys? Use keyboard key '?', I think. Also monthly forging, auto-recruitment, etc.
>>
>>559983315

>>
>>559984458
Temperature scales, recruiting troops with high map movement, moving items around using laboratories to increase commander map movement, recruiting cheap independent commanders, using items that give flight to armies, using rituals to teleport commanders or armies around, recruiting soldiers closer to the front or recruiting them as a garrison and build them up slowly, forging items that give increased leadership, scouting or anticipating enemy army movements, understanding phase resolution, summoning commanders with good leadership, taking a bless that gives sacred commanders increased leadership, etc.
>>
>>559987173
Recruiting or summoning flying troops.

Also anticipate stealthy enemies. And that army reports can be manipulated by some commanders and items.

people tested it a while ago and found out that units following orders to hit rear or not is just completely random. the common knowledge of it being based on a morale check was just confirmation bias. the best way to get units to hit rear is to simply just have more squads so you have more chances of rolling correctly
>>
>>560014529
>>560015057
Speaking of obscure mechanics; if you have troops patrolling a fort, it gets attacked, and you move a separate army onto the fort from a neighboring province on the same turn, will the patrolling units and the neighboring units join together in the fight, or will the moving army just go into the fort?
>>
>>560017436
they shouldn't join forces because the army will have already done their move order and camped in the fort before the enemy moves onto your province. the defender always gets to their province first
>>
>>560017638
>>560017436
That said, you can tell your incoming army to 'Move and patrol' which will have them join forces.
More and more often I feel like people don't know this one.
>>

>>
>>560023703
They're great. They just need some anon to sit down for a while curating a bunch of functional but not brutally overpowered nations.
Sometimes something sneaks by, though. One game I played no one liked the ichthyid faction. It was definitely quite crappy.
Except for the recruit anywhere D2 stealthy assassin mages. I spammed that shit, got Horde of Skeletons, and annihilated the whole leadership of one nation after another.

>>
>>560029230

>>
>>559973143
fuck that's even better

I think attacking me is clearly the correct choice for you though given the map + lobby, and that Ubar will potentially dealing with Therados. I don't have a huge cave, but having even a single olm spawning province can upend things.

I only now get to see that Ubar's back was against the ocean; yeah, that's a pretty fucked start, but those do tend to be quite memorable games.
>>
>>560034486
I don't remember exactly how it went... I think you need to use a separate program that comes with the mod. It generates the nations (and you also can manipulate it a good bunch, like adding tags and shit to force certain races, magic paths, or whatever else you like).
It's janky as shit but I did it once too and it wasn't that bad. Like a decade ago, though, so I don't really remember.

>>560037748
It aims to destroy the strongest legion of every player, I think also in order from strongest to weakest, and it'll will beeline from a target to the next using all its movement. If it can reach multiple targets during a single turn, it will.
It goes around sites of power, but any legion caught in the way is getting a whooping too.
Nice time to have teleporting abilities or misdirection rituals

Skaven are like EA Xilb. You have spam early game and mid/late game is all about the magic and summons. Turn 35 foul vapours might be too early (unless you go magic 2) but he could poison arrows or warp lightning spam or try to counter those iron drakes with Rat Ogres and Doomwheels. High quality skaven units are expensive and time consuming, but that’s why you go scales

and tbf it did take me all game to mass those irondrakes. i only just recently got the ability to recruit them normally, and prior to that they were eating all of my fire gems cause they cost 9 gems for 4 of them. they should do a lot of work if i invested that heavily into them but i think skaven undermade globadiers. those things have more range than my irondrakes so at the very least they get a volley or 2 off while the irondrakes sit in a poison cloud and eventually die

What nations do you guys want?
Stat Upgrade is set to lower first (i think it means the nation will contain millitia tier units alongside more elite troops)

The seed? Ok. Hopefully I understood correctly.

There's an option to generate new seeds or to enter a list of your own. Do it like this

>take their seeds from the top of that pack's .dm (they're listed and labeled)

Hopefully they all stand a chance of winning

>3 years on latus
Literal man made horrors beyond my comprehension
What turn did that reach? And was there any population left in the world by that point? I've only been in a handful of games that reached past turn 100 and they all devolved into mass genocide wishing and a bunch of mages moving around massive hordes of summoned wolves and skeletons
>>
>he insults me, refuses to pay tribute

Bro could’ve at least paid the tribute after wasting my prestige and orders and I would have been perfectly willing to be friends…

12 Nations have been chosen.
Will write descriptions for each and post the mod on the workshop.

This is as big as I could make it while keeping within 4chan's file size limit, but you can still see the borders if you zoom in. The original .tga file is 57.2mb and 5000x4000 pixels.

Dear lord. Dom 3 was before they added thrones, right? No wonder it took three years if the winner had to take over every province.

According to the .map file there is 636 provinces in total. Also, the .map file is 140k lines long, although it's mostly province borders, which can be painted onto the map in-game and the game will try to auto-generate them. Not sure the auto-generation was a feature when the map was first made however.

Leviathan won. I think someone weakened the angel with a ritual.
Also in the other game, Lilith is about to kill the angel with the crystal legion.

>Lilith is about to kill the angel with the crystal legion
Dangerously based, I was rooting for him.
I was predicting he would hire the vile apostates and have them support the guard to hit the angel for 7 more infernal, instead of his risky enfeeble (could have fizzled against the angel's 6 resist or hit a stat that wasn't ranged). Whatever he did is a good play though as long as his event promoted guard survives it.
>>
>>560190089
>ritual
That was me. I was hopping to kill it for shit and giggles. No idea what happens but I can imagine it should be worth a bunch of prestige or something.
It resisted the ritual, though, so the battle was completely as expected.

Turn 1
>angel deals 5 + 7 = 12 damage
>leviathan deals 23 - 4 (from the angel's Infernal Resistance) = 19 damage
>angel down to 3 HP, leviathan down to 12
>leviathan heals 1 HP -> 13 HP

Turn 2
>angel hits again for 12 damage before eating another 19 points and dying
>leviathan survives with 1 HP and heals one more, so it ends at 2 HP
>goes on to slap Beelzebub's shit because it can

Was there ever an established 'date' for the ages?
ie EA < 800AD, MA ~1100AD, LA ~1400AD just before guns?
>>
>>560190682
Come and kill me yourself wimp
>>
>>560213893
Bronze age
Iron Age
Late Medieval
>>
>>560213893
I always thought of EA as around ~200 BC or so, shortly before Ermor steamrolled 1/3rd of the nation roster and reached threat status.
>>
>>560213893
I did a write up a few weeks ago.
It's hard to tell. EA has stuff from 3000 BC all the way to 300 AC or so.
LA also has lots of stuff that develop in the context created by guns. Marignon at the very least should have guns.
If I had to pick a single year as the rough estimate of each age, I'd say around 500 BC for EA, 600 AD for MA and a weird gun-less 1.600 for LA.

Sorry its taking an extra day. Writing a rundown for 10+ nations is a bit of a chore
>>
>>560233550
No need to write much, anyone interested is going to check everything themselves anyways out of curiosity. Just write some erotic RP worldbuilding or leave it blank

That is true, but since I plan to upload them to the Workshop, I think its only fair to give people the rundown

The devs just play it for cool singleplayer stories no? It's just compniggers insisting that it's only for MP
>>
>>560251604
yeah, sadly I heard that the majority of the player base is actually single player only, which is scary if you look at steam player statistics

>>560251242
well I can think about the world burning down, or how I can burn down other player's worlds. one is certainly funnier than the other

>>560252017
>Steam stats
Come on anon. You know this has been a niche series from the start
>>
>>560252494
fair, but I was hoping to have a spike break 1000 concurrent at least once

it feels like the player base is expanding but long hiatuses are common
>>
>>560251242
It's like one turn a day and they take a couple of hours at the extreme end. It's not bad. Usually I take my turn when I see it's rolled over, think about what I've done throughout the day, then come back to it later on.
>>
>>560252967
Exactly, one turn a day for weeks. That's a schedule
>>
>>560253131
More like months, usually. If you play vidya every day anyway (like me) you don't really notice the obligation.
>>
>>560253269
Oh no I do anon. I want to play vidya on my own terms. Not force a turn every day for however long. You know modern gaming has turned towards fomo, daily logins and whatever the fuck. I hate it so much. I just want to play a game for fun when I want to. Not have a second job to babysit. Even for an hour a day.
>>
>>560251242
It's addictive.
You play your turn and have to wait up to a day, later in the game possibly up to two until you get the result of your actions. In the early game you're excited to go on, in the late game you're excited and anxious whether that plan you spent two hours setting up will actually work out. You have to wait for a day until you see it, but you can think about it meanwhile, maybe pop in for a quick change or two.
I've been playing for almost 15 years now, with some pauses in between. Usually 3 games at once: once in the early game, one in the mid game, one in the late game. Occasionally more if there's a game starting and I see I'm about to fall out another game.
Too much Dominions does burn you out and sometimes you just need a nice pause, but shit's just fun
>>
>>560253567
Some communities do 7 day timers for turns. Just go search for one of those. We usually do 24 hours simply because any shorter will result in people staling and it automatically fucks over anyone not in the most common timezone.
>>
>>560253567
There are blitzes for that
>>
>>560254541
Frankly all I can stomach is "staggered blitz" with friends. We boot it up and play all night. But it can happen whenever
>>
>>560252680
async games playerbase numbers are kind of fake. there's a lot of waiting around for your next turn with nothing to do so you close the game

Sometimes When I’m deep into a game I’ll be thinking about it all day.

Long async games are just fun, bot a huge daily commitment, but a LOT of personal investment. Same reason classic Diplomacy is fun or even Async Civilization.
