The only pre-3rd gen monsters I've enjoyed are Nargacuga and Rathian, and the latter has that bullshit insta-run and insta-tailspin garbage that thankfully has been removed from 5th gen onwards.Playing through MHGU has reinforced my desire to never play 1st or 2nd gen games. I hate when a monster becomes harder in multiplayer than solo because of how it can look like it's targeting you, only to track another player at the last fraction of a second and when you dodge away, you end up going right into the attack. Yea you can calculate your risk and memorize the moments you can flinch a monster and save yourself while you recover and call that player skill but you have to fight really hard to make it work like that. That might sound like a skill issue but if SAED was more player expression and skill friendly, you could do more trick shots with it and use it more with clever timing and positioning, which it can't since its too damn slow and overshoots itself if you get too close to a monster. If a lesser attack flinched or stunned a monster, I wouldn't call that skillful but luck, and a just reward for consistently targeting a part. I am not advocating every attack should be used equally, but being slow but powerful is not enough, there should be more tertiary effects that compliment more imaginative uses other than "I can tell when using it now will not fuck me".With how the MH team openly hates SAED spam, the fact that it can be done if you have someone taking aggro is also the cherry on top. Like, you can gain phials fast but that doesn't mean you can immediately use SAED, yet they punish the solo players who use that style of play. In fact, the design of CB is dissonant on how fast you gain phials versus how slow axe mode is and how slow axe mode attacks are.

Fairly easy ±15min hunts>Did a couple G4 elder dragons and other hard quests like raging brachy. Not looking forward too much to that. Especially dreading the hyper metal raths>Barely did any deviants, it feels a bit grindy. Furthest i've gotten is G3 or G4 deadeye yian garugaI think i have about 100 quests left, excluding deviants. So I noticed black diablos in p3rd has this iridescent sheen that covers the head, wings, and back. It appears reddish blue like bloodbath diablos which explains where the bloodbath diablos design came from because I always thought it was random and out of left field.
