Finally got to stage 4 in the event and tried out Menzaburo's event deck. Man, it's so much fun. They've been doing him dirty since day 1, but this was worth the wait. I can't believe they're seriously advertising the event like Yuro is the main attraction when this deck is so much better.

The decks we saw at Worlds last time were still not too far off from what we were seeing in the tournaments. Pure Gradius is a deck that can win games, but not one that would be likely to win a tournament, I think.

>>560312981Bad news: "it's hard to deal with if the opponent doesn't draw the out" is every deck. And "gets cucked by Shady" also applies to Gradius. It's not some unexplored hidden gem that no one was willing to experiment with. It had a bunch of hype when it came out, and people did bring it to tournaments. It underperformed precisely because it had a lot more trouble playing through disruptions than the meta decks. Unless you have Beginning i(which is Limit 2) in your hand, your turn is pretty much over if you get Shadied, whereas decks like Jointech, MP, and Aqua can play through it. And since all of the Gradius monsters have 800 defense, they're easy to clear if they get flipped. There's good reason why the DLinker variant got better results despite having to give up on the "shockingly difficult to deal with" Full Custom.

I'd maybe consider it reasonable because you're getting a search and you don't normally get that in real Rush, but other decks get to do their search and also fusion summon multiple times a turn, so it still feels unfair. I honestly wouldn't mind Rush skills being designed so that you get a drawback for searching but also have the choice to just play your hand with no restrictions if you drew well enough to not need the skill. But I doubt they'll go that far. I'm glad they at least seem to be moving away from their "summon level 7-8 monsters with one less tribute" phase, because that was honestly just plain lazy. Maybe they could nerf that part of the MP skill after GRF while they're at it and never do it again.
