Each town has its own unique NPCs who develop alongside the main story and contribute to the worldbuilding. Now compare that to Crossbell: instead of having a whole bunch of different towns located throughout the country, it has one major city with multiple districts, two minor villages, and one hospital. Obviously, people in town will always talk about the same rumors and events, and since you don't travel across the country, you'll talk to the same people day after day again. Even Azure only adds one more location to this, and the three police academy NPCs never have anything interesting to say.These problems are unavoidable if you consider that you always have access to every Crossbell NPC at a time, while Sky and Cold Steel usually limit your traversable area to one region or town at a time. I really was charmed by what they did with him in Reverie and enjoyed his development as well as how ruthless he was in CS4 (also his en VA is incredible at his role holy). Lloyd and Cassius are high IQ blunt weapon wielders who have animal like battle aura's when using their strongest attack. Rean is Arios, Van is McBurn. It stands to reason that the next protagonist will be like Kasim, maybe they'll be from a warrior tribe but they want to break away from his duties. It could take place in the northern strip of Zemuria where Gaius will finally be relevant because of partially taking place in Leman. It'll be about the wind sept terrion, and it'll be revealed that Ouroboros already claimed the water sept terrion 20 years ago when the east started to collapse.

Sadly though, we spend almost as much time reuniting with the old Class VII members, as well as guests from past titles like Olivier, Agate, Tio and Tita, as we do with Rean's students, whose development naturally comes short at times as a result.And I'm not sure what happened to falcom's writers between CSII and CSIII, but the overall writing of anything involving Ouroboros and Jaeger corps went down the drain between those games. Essentially any time Rean teams up with old friends or comrades from Liberl or Crossbell to deal with an immediate threat, it feels as if you're playing an entirely different, worse game.
