I recently got back into Three Houses, because although I bought it at launch I got filtered by the monastery really hard. It felt like it took 40minutes - 1 hour just to get through talking to everyone and do all the activities and support events before I could play the game and I really wasn't feeling it. In my original save I loaded a few days ago I was in chapter 7. Decided to restart the game from the beginning at hard/classic this time on emulator in 4k/60fps and my god it's like playing a different game, exploring the monastery felt a lot less like a chore now that I didn't get dizzy with motion sickness while trying to get through it and didn't feel like vomiting looking at the pixelated mess thanks to sub 1080p even in docked. Now that I also have a better idea what I'm doing, I got to the same point where my original save was, but I could recruit a bunch of characters from other houses by now, and they are much stronger this time so I don't have to restart every battle like 5 times anymore. The game is pretty fun now but man it took literal years for me to finally get into it.

Played it through several times and decided to try another Fire Emblem game since I realized I was getting a little tired of the same shit every time since it's not exactly hard once I start to know everything about it. I decided to try Path Of Radiance since it seems to be quite loved and has Ike who I always thought was pretty cool from Smash brosWhat I'm getting at here is, is Three Houses really different compared to the rest of the series? Some stuff I noticed immediately is how the stats and levels work. It's capped at level 20 and you gotta "prestige" or something when you upgrade to a new class and start at level 1 again. Also every unit is specialized so I can't do silly shit like have a guy with high strength growths become a mage. Also the Monastery system just doesn't exist. You just go from one battle to the next with the chance to buy some stuff and dump exp into a unit. It's not like I'm saying I don't like it, but Three Houses just feels like an almost entirely different game. Is every Fire Emblem game like this with how much it varies in gameplay? I suppose I also miss having the ability to rewind time since I don't like letting my characters die if I can help it.
