Hell, even in V2C2 he just goes "..." when everyone is ganging up on Rio, and Rio does actually get offended. Yet the moment Sensei gets alone in with her in the bond story, he starts making those cringey comments about how Avant Garde is totally cool! It's gross.It's like this: There's a heroine who's bad at cooking, and when everyone's ripping her apart, you stay quiet, but the second you're alone, you go, "Nah, it's good actually." If you're gonna follow galge-style affection tropes, shouldn't you be ready to tank your own rep and say it's delicious right there on the spot while eating it? Honestly it just reinforces the idea that Sensei is some sociopathic social camelon that just does whatever is most convenient for his students in the moment. Ironically in a very utilitarian way.
