From what I remembered reading, Capcom panicked over the state of REmake 3 and forced Capcom Taiwan to rush REsistance so that they could bundle it with REmake 3 in hopes that it would make it a more appealing package. REmake 3's development was also so abysmal that they took M-Two off REmake 4 and just made them a support studio for it.

Matilda burns too much ammo in exchange for high DPS, Freya's Needle is just an ammo burner for the character that usually can't afford it, Ghost Grudge is a better Requiem til you level the Requiem, and Redemption is basically a one-shot rifle that is good with the Power Shades charm but limited in kill efficiency due to constant reloads. If you're playing Insanity, you'll probably want to get the RIP Knife's risks from in-game drops for their extra blood gains, too, instead of relying on Kotetsu.Honestly, my problem with this arsenal, besides Grace seriously getting gipped overall, is how poorly it's handled in comparison to RE4R. There's clearly better guns, no sense of progression for a majority of them, and very silly balancing choices involved.

You could probably get it in less than ten minutes (I did Rebecca and then Forrest, so I'm only getting it now). It is incredibly useful but there's a big issue- it has about the same amount of ammo as in the main game. So this is kind of like a bait, you get six bullets (and no more until the return trip basically), so you gotta choose what you use it on very wisely (or just not use it at all).

It's a great game that recaptures the spirit of the original with incredible art design and atmosphere. No it's not the same, not it's not "better" than the original. It's just different, it's new. No real cut content, only expanded content. The game is more guided and tutorialized sure but it's also flat out smoother and a lot more fun to play. It has interesting new story wrinkles and nods to fan interpretations, while crafting its own new interpretation of the story. They added to the discourse of Silent Hill 2 in a major way, they didn't take anything away.
