I think the one we see in Chapter 3 was trying to either capture Toriel's soul or take her to the bunker and do it, but instead settled for Undyne's upon her unexpected arrival. I think we'll see Asgore's soul be taken in Chapter 5 to reveal the concept, and the very obtaining of which will be the specific reason a dark fountain will be opened in the festival or Flower King. With how everything has been established to work so far, I think this would explain most thingsAlso I want to hug that Asgore but that's unrelated

Deltarune is a sort-of-sequel-thing, staggered release over a decade, complex or even convoluted, and you need to be obsessive to get the Real Deltarune Experience (tm) despite Toby's attempts at bending over backwards to make it excessively accessible at surface level. The things that Deltaruners love DR for have more in common with the average story game fandom than with the universality of Undertale.
