A lot of it is just memorization, and understanding your moves frame data so don't lock yourself into slow attacks.

Focus mode is good, focus attacks are bad. The idea of mainline having focus mode as a way to expand combat options is good, accurately aiming your weapon feels very natural to the combat loop of monster hunter, where attack direction and hitzones have always been important.
I just hate how in Wilds a lot of the weapons can only do anything in focus mode and their kits got gimped for the sake of it. GS, CB, IG, SA. They all feel awful in this game due to focus mode being a 24/7 requirement for them.

something i've learned over the last decade is that the average person does not think about how mechanics in a game interact with one another, their main concern is whether they can reach a state of "success" or not and are more or less just trying to brute force it, which is why they are perfectly satisfied with a game simply having larger consequences for failure as long as the dopamine comes in several fast bursts. its one of the reasons why DMC gameplay doesn't hit well with some normies, attacking without interacting with your full kit and getting hit on a normal/easy difficulty feels fairly inconsequential most of the time

I know that asking for help with Wilds graphics/tweaks in this general is probably gonna end up in ridicule but I still wanna give it a shot.

My screenshots in Wilds look extremely low rez compared to every single other game I play. And in actual play the game looks very sharp (not good, just sharp and not low rez). Even if I close my face to the screen the resolution in Wilds looks fine, but screenshots look extremely low rez even without any zoom. No other game has this issue for me and I just use windows print screen for all of them cause I like the raw png quality. Does the game have some thing that fucks screenshots up or what?

The average Wildslop consumer doesn't realise this. Turn rates on weapons are nerfed or outright absent without it, advancing moves cover less distance, hops are nerfed, all the while focus mode grants you magnetism. So yeah, the "just don't use it" argument doesn't work because you end up with weapons clunkier than their oldgen counterparts. It's a travesty. Focus mode would be better as a stance that alters the moveset/opens up new inputs. It allowing you to do directional interactions without a prior input is the only redeeming and interesting part about it

because it is important, you must earn it. and it's not like wilds monsters have super bad hitzone either, bounce doesn't exist except for that training car. hz is very generous for a lot of monster. the reason monsters died so fast is because you just spam your strongest attacks on the weakest zone thanks to focus aim

I think what I hate most about focus mode is that they gave us the option to free aim our weapons.....in the same game where the pressence and important of breaking parts, cutting tails and hitting weakzones were all massively reduced. Most of the monsters have just one proper break part, they got rid of 3 of the rath's break parts, no monster has any gimmick where you need to hit them in a specific place to interrupt a combo or something like that, and most of the roster has no major hitzone split.
So yay, I can now aim my weapon but the important of hitting monsters in specific places is almost gone.

Breaking parts has definitely become a diminished feature, nowadays getting topples is not about breaking parts but hitting glowing thing. Of course break topples are still in but they only compound the KO chains that already exist with focus strike freebies and dps checks, or they overlap during those KOs and end up being wasted/irrelevant.
I just think they went too far for a base game, they should've leaned more on the fade slash-esque moves if they really wanted to negate the positioning aspect. It would've been less extreme than free aim
