High TTK works better in Halo because the Spartan is much more capable than Runners in general. >Fast movement speed>Fast strafe speed>High + fast jump>Can shoot accurately from hip while jumping>Gandhihopping>Fast and deadly melee with weapon in hand>Spawns with grenadesThat’s what makes the Halo gunbattles as engaging as they are. But Marathon doesn’t have any of that stuff. It plays like more of a tactical shooter. Increase the TTK, and you’ll just have fights where players are spraying into each other like bullet sponges because the attack and movement options are much more limited. It’s simply not like Halo where you have to time BR/Magnum headshots in between your targets’ strafes and jumps. This game’s gunplay feels more like R6 or CoD because of ADS full auto guns and deemphasized movement options. It’s just a different type of thing than Halo or Destiny. P.S. A higher TTK in Marathon will also make it easier for players to simply run away from engagements. Players will always find a way to play like pussies.

I initially was skeptical about the TTK but after 25+ hours I've realized most of my issues were literally just skill issues and unfamiliarity with the finer points of the game, abilities, and movement.Unironically everyone complaining about it is just having a skill issue. Complaints about "not being able to use abilities" are skill issues, at higher levels they come into play in combat constantly (even vandals arm gun). Just git gud.

A lot of this game is psychological. The sound effects are the best I've ever heard in a competitive shooter, which is both good and bad because you will spend most of your time on edge.

I used to play a lot of R6 Siege back in the first few years of that game. In which it was common to get one-tapped by any gun in the game because I poked my head past a tiny hole in the drywall for 0.3 seconds. Nothing else feels like fast TTK anymore. Marathon feels very medium. Especially with all the abilities and shit people are popping during battles. I’ve only been killed without being able to shoot back a few times. You just gotta stay tactical and move smart. Be aware of how much noise you’re making and listen closely for others.

There's been a few times when I'm attempting to do a quest and I'll have another player start attacking me and I'll just stand there, and sometimes they just give up and walk away.I think having an active PVE group that doesn't engage in pvp, similar to Arc Raiders, is something that Marathon needs more of.

Hell the self-revive mechanic has been around as long as we've had any gameplay info iirc and that's clearly intended for solos. Most of the quests are also decidedly easier to do solo and the trios system is kind of at odds with the whole quest system.
There's basically no point in playing Rook until about mid-season when you have most of his upgrades unlocked. Even if you wanted to do something like a hatchet run you could just go in on an actual shell like Destroyer and knife everything down and scoot.
