My dream mod/pack is one that makes blocks more cumbersome to store and transport.
You can only carry one block at any given time and you can't have any tools equipped while doing so (Inventory of non-placeable items/tools is pretty much unchanged). Instead of crafting into planks, logs craft into crafting benches. For recipes involving blocks there's a separate multi-block crafting structure.

Early game block transportation is done by carts pulled by horses/mules.

For mid game, minecarts get a revamp to be actually useful, they can be chained together and to move them all you add a player-controllable and steerable engine cart powered by coal. You also have sailboats. You can put blocks onto pallets for easier and faster transfer onto the boats via wooden cranes.

Late game you unlock full sized trains and cargo ships. You use shipping containers to easily transfer from ship to train. To move shipping containers you can build gantry crane multiblocks. You can also make a forklift which can move pallets around in your warehouses and load into shipping containers.

Also with all of these methods, barrels get a lot of use as they are a transportable storage for tools and non-block items. Shulker boxes kind of become useless unless you care about color coding (until i think of a new use for them).

I just want to live out warehouse logistics autism in minecraft. It never sat right with me that a double chest holds almost 3,500 cubic meters of matter.

Also this pack would necessarily involve automation and tech somewhere in between create and immersive engineering.
I also considered an inventory management system kind of like the fishing game Dredge where items in your inventory have differently sized and shaped hitboxes so you have to play tetris with your inventory. Perhaps that would be too much.

That's the only truly bad vanilla structure and it's designed to be embedded into the dirt. The major version immediately after it added the best Minecraft structure ever implemented, and I'm not sure why the people who make structure mods and datapacks fail to realize what makes it great.

It just looks so much better than the average modded structure in my opinion. It makes good use of the block palette, doesn't rely on spamming shapes, doesn't deviate from the palette to add unneeded "texture" or "color" variation, isn't a fuckhuge and gaudy tumor that dwarfs everything around it, and isn't a pointless carved pumpkin on a fencepost in the middle of nowhere.

I kinda have the same impulse, to make blocks much harder to move to incentives cool infrastructure, but you realise that TFC is about the most “muh realism” that people will put up with, right? TFC almost has enough of a big vein and inventory problem, you’d just need to shrink the inventory and/or increase the amount of metal needed and found in veins. Colossal veins could be really cool, imagine making one of those big open-pit mining rotary bucket machines using Create.
But then making the material costs much higher would have to be actually useful for something without the player feeling like it’s pointless. Maybe it’s thick armoured walls that siege/parasite mobs can’t break, or expanded multiblock structures (e.g. EBF is 5x5x7), and also new port and dry-dock multiblocks if possible. Just quintupling the cost of the normal machines will feel like shit, and the recipes will get worse.

The vanilla-brain uses his imagination to work around the limitations in his system, not to design a new system with different limitations.
One neat method to patch water streams is to make many item types sink in water instead of floating. Also add water interactions like for washing ores, like TFC and/or Create already has. You could even go full autism and use a Terraria-style finite water mod, to make water management non-trivial also, but such mods aren’t exactly stable. Shame nobody has made a hydroelectric dam mod.

It’s one of the best structures, but I think the block palette is still a bit too limited. Just three main colours, all of which are strongly contrasting. Plus water and the occasional pot and spawner and lantern. A dark tuff brick would be a good addition, like what dark prismarine is to an ocean temple. Something to blend nicely into the other blocks. A partially weathered copper block could work, but those textures are a bit too busy. I’d also like to see more carved tuff (square tile) blocks.

I tried that once with a pack that lock resources behind biomes but end up with 2 problems
1 is the balance between automation and exploration: the gameplay loop is obviously to find resources -> build infrastructure to harvest resources -> move resources back to main base. But the problem is that in most large mod some resources are more important than other like copper and iron so i just end up focus on those and just collect the other by hand instead of building depot
2 is the chunk problem, you have to chunkload those infrastructure in order for them to produce any resources at all. If you tried to farm all type of resources it will eventually lag your world like hell

I raise you another one. Supplementaries in one of the recent updates added a cannon boat. You remember those shitty little cannons that can fire mob eggs and cannonballs? You can put them on ships now and have a fight from the water. I'm thinking a little mario kart style boat course. Just found out about the block container cell in gtnh - it has the storage of a 64k for the price of like 2 MV circuits (just only for one item).
This means I can kind of ignore drawers, which will be weird based on how I've played in past packs but should be much faster. It's kind of annoying how there's so much AE2 stuff that's only on gtnh - it makes it super hard to find comprehensive info on it.

I don't have this issue. Minecraft 1.7 and below infamously have gigantic oceans that spread throughout the whole world and all connect to eachother, and structure mods infamously spawn on or near the coast and go off into the water all the time. Just dig under and use archimedes ships as a boat mod instead of as a flying ship mod, it's much more satisfying.

Minecraft 1.7.10 is VERY VERY VERY MUCH intended to be played as a viking.

if you're actually gonna go there it's the best mod ever, otherwise it's super bloat. If you're not going to use twilight forest, aether is a fun alternative even on newer versions iirc.

When the loading tip mentioned there were rare large ore deposits, I think it was underselling just how fucking huge they are. This doesn't even count the stack of iron, stack of lapis, and handful of silver and lead that were branching off. If I veinmined this it probably would've crashed my computer.
