Between Disney, Square, and the absurd workloads required to produce a modern AAA game there's no chance KH4 will be worth the time and resources. Cancellation feels very likely, and if I had to guess it will be paired with a major release or multiple big reveals to act as damage control.

FF7R is coming out early to mid 2027 and will get a boat load of focus , but 2027 is also KHs 25th anniversary so they’ll use that to market for KH4 after F7R is released.But an 8 year difference between games is insane. Man, I need to get around to replaying the series again, but I don't think I can. I used to do it every year, but after my first (and only) playthrough of KH3 I haven't touched anything in the series since. Whenever I think of playing through the series again I start thinking of all the fun moments and cool boss fights, but then I remember that 3 will be there to capstone all those moments. People keep on telling me that it had updates and the DLC or whatever so I should totally give it another shot, but since my biggest issue with it is on the character/narrative front first and foremost that doesn't really help too much since I doubt they've completely remade the story from the ground up in these updates.

Kingdom hearts 3, for a lot οf people, felt like such a massive rush job that failed to actually finish the saga that had been built up over 16 to 17 years. Instead of getting new villains to fight in the endgame, you Instead fight the same people you already fought and killed before, cause time travel.
