He spent a large chunk of the show being too flat and dry but the trust part of his basic arc was more about the moments he let Ai do things and started talking more kindly to him and trusting others a bit more, instead of being concerned about his cards/weapons box.But in those cases, then 'quality' becomes about pure duel presentation paired with the visuals and music, and if it feels like the duelist is showing little pieces of their soul. Ignoring the finale duel, Reiji still had good character presence and presentation when he did get a rare duel because all his big demon ceo bosses and contracts were like thin mirror shards of his authority and attitude, and also the monsters did some cool ass things. Even though Yusaku's character got reworked last minute he was very likely always going to be in the role of a Link Vrains guardian warrior (hence the Firewall Dragon and knightly Talkers). But the problem is that his cyberseslop deck is so washed over with genericness, and it probably wouldn't have come across that much better in the original premise honestly. Some Code Talker moments and how they were used were better but they just barely scraped out anything to work with. Things improved for him a little bit once other extra deck types appeared and Cyberse Magician stood out for some scenes as a ritual, but eh.

I think it's a Neo-Spacian reboot. Consider:1. By the time this set comes out, the GX remaster will be knee deep into S2. And the Sacred Beast reboot was announced while the GX remaster was around the end of S1.2. The Judai overframes did not require HERO cards as materials, making it easy to splash Flame Wingman in other decks.3. The Sacred Beast reboot specifically ignored the previous cards, setting a precedent for future support to do that too.4. Judai's deck is traditionally considered a HERO deck, but that's only because Neo Spacian is so fucking awful. His ace monster is Neos. He was using those guys in his final duel with Darkness. If they're going to revamp his deck they should absolutely go all in on the Neospacians.5. A level 12 God Neos retrain that is actually good would be really cool.
