They found out people could alt+f4 the same map to gain something like 1.4k SC/hr doing an extremely tedious activity. Since then they've replaced POIs with rare samples, reduced the amount of SC gained from higher difficulties even further with map gen design, etc. People say AH has done well allowing premium currency to be farmed when in fact, they've taken an approach to SC farming that only points to a hostile approach to the whole matter. Which makes sense as they are a business, but they don't deserve that credit. If they could take it out of the game without backlash they would, because their design philosophy is not one of player friendliness, as we've seen with the many countless gameplay tweaks (some are even HIDDEN stealth changes, another point to being anti-player).
