To be completely honest I think the problem with Rivals’ balancing is that the devs just have the wrong vision for it in the first place.I imagine that they really want the game to have a sort of stable meta where all of the heroes are in a semi-perfect spot and don’t need further balancing, and this explains the very incremental changes they make; they’re trying to reach an equilibrium with every character and purposefully avoid making them radically stronger or weaker from patch to patch because that would throw everything off.The problem is that the idea is antithetical to what the playerbase actually wants out of the game. Nobody wants a perfectly balanced game, they want a fresh meta from patch to patch because that keeps things interesting. They want to see the powerful characters become shit and the shit characters become powerful.This would also explain why some of the changes they make seem so out of touch, because they look at actual data taken out of the game when making changes as opposed to community feedback.
